Sorry if this is in the wrong area, I was guessing where to put it, but anyways. I'm wanting to join the Disney College Program in 2 years and I was wondering if anyone has taken it or knows much about it. I have checked out the official site and have loved what I've heard so far.

Thank you,
TheAtticBride:D

two words: DO IT!!! It was a really great learning experience for me and I got a chance to live away from home for the first time. It was also my first job!! It looks great on resumes as well. If you want a CAREER with Disney this is the best starting point you can have!

If you have any more questions please ask! I love yapping about my college program experience :)

Thank you all!! I'll certainly have many questions as I draw closer to doing so. I'm so psyched to do this. I want to do it in 2 years cause I just got into a local college after a year of doing nothing since graduation. One of the things I'm worried about is making new friends when I go. And one of the problems I have is that I have asperger's syndrome. A high functioning form of autism, you would even know I had it if you met me, plus I have OCD. So rooming and being away from my family and having a job for the first time will be very hard for me.

Before I went I was in a place in my life where I wasn't really very social. I didn't feel good about myself and wasn't the type to talk to people I didn't know that often.

Well, I think if I hadn't done the program I might still be the same way. I have matured so much and learned so much since then!!! I think its the PERFECT opportunity for you.

When I look back I wish I had been more social when I was there. I have heard so many people talk about the friendships they made there...If I could do the program over again I know the experience would have been a million times better.

but it took that experience to show me some things about myself. can't have the growth without the experience!

And don't rush to do the program. Its been around for a while and its certainly not going anywhere!! The CP's (thats what they called us) practically run the park. at least thats how I felt anyway.

Any more questions? Ask away!

My first day I was crying on the bathroom floor!! I got used to being there and pretty soon it was "home" Good luck to you. :)

Can I adopt you as my CP friend? Consider me your first.:animwink: Even though I don't work there anymore. I'm Tiffany from Michigan.

I know how you feel, because I am the same way. Going away for my first CP was hard, because it was my first real time being away from home (I live at home, and commute to school). It took me awhile to make friends, but I was able to. Also, I have Asperger's too.

 Wow, I'm not alone on here:sohappy:
How long did it take you until you got the courage to go? I'm planning in 2 years cause I'll be done with some of my college stuff at my local college and cause I feel I'm not ready quite yet. I also notice I did put this in the wrong section and it belongs in the College Program area lol. Oops:D

It doesn't matter. It can be moved if necessary.:)

For me, I applied during my first semester and went down after it was over. Looking back, it probably would have been easier on me to have waited 1-2 semesters.

Maybe in 2 years or lease I will be ready.

So what kinds of jobs have you had working at WDW while attending as a CP??

So far I have done merchandise (Spring 2005), character attendant (Fall Advantage 2006), custodial (Summer 2007), and I will be doing Quick-Service Food and Beverage this summer.

Wow, I could never do custodial or anything doing with food, but I like the other 2 jobs. I'm hoping for a character role like Stitch or Lilo, but I think I'm to tall. I'm like 5'4 or 5'5. Another cool one would be doing the attractions like Pirates or the Haunted Mansion. Do you get to some what choose your role, or is it free for all for the boss?

I didn't really have much of a choice with custodial or QSFB (custodial was not that bad though). I really hope to be a performer. I will be auditioning for the 5th time next Spring.

When it comes to the role, you can tell the recruiter which roles are your favorites, and where you would love to work. But in the end, it comes down to Disney placing you there. For me, merch was my third choice and the character attendant was my second choice.

Thank you for answering my questions. I have to get off now, but I'll make sure to think up some really good questions for you. Will you have a computer at Disney?
