Tomorrow I will be attending a presentation about the Disney College Program designed to attract employees to Disney and obtain college credit classes headed by some Disney executives or management personnel. Has anyone taken part in this program? What were your thoughts? (I didn't know which forum to put this in...)

Haha, that is very funny actually, because i JUST attended that meeting as it came to my school this afternoon.

The presentation is great, especially in person, and well... I don't think i can this spring, sadly. But i intend to do it, no matter what.

I have. I have done 3 CPs, and think it is a great program and a great experience. I hope to go back down this summer myself.

college program

if you look around there is a bunch of insight on the program.
I enjoy the college program so much that i did this last summer again, but it can be just like any job you have to enjoy whet your doing and sometime it not the job that make it good it the people you work with. with was my case this summer . my first program was the fall 05 mainstreet operation, and then my second was magic kingdom custodial the north area . what the program does for you is as much your willing to do for yourself.

I've done it and LOVED it! I work as a Campus Rep now, trying to get more students to go...

You're not going to get rich, but it's a great experience. I tell students that you'll get what you put in to it--if you go to work every day with a good outlook & come home every day with a good outlook, you're gonna have a good time. If you call off day after day and resent the fact that you have to work, you're going to be miserable.

I'm actually meeting up with one of my roommates this month at WDW... I still talk to several of the people I lived & worked with, and one of my coworkers actually married an International Cast Member from Morocco!

My word of advice, though: take your car!:wave:

I have heard (read) so many good things about the CP that I am thinking of going back to college just so I can do it. :ROFLOL:As soon as I finish paying my kids college tuition and after I retire I think I'll check into it! :animwink::D

I keep hearing everybody saying this, but I can't take a car. I've been accepted for Spring Advantage '08 in Merchandise, is it really THAT bad if you don't have a car? My car isn't in the best shape to take it with me.

Well, the buses can be....adventerous. But you can survive without a car. I did all 3 times I went on the CP. And I would be without one again this summer if I go.

It's definitely not bad if you don't have a car...the busses can get on your nerves a bit, but they'll get you where you need to go. In hindsight, I just wish I'd taken mine... I could've seen a lot more of the area if I had, and slept in a few more days! ;)

If you need any info or just want to talk CP-stuff out, feel free to PM me! We CPs have to stick together!

Hey Everyone,

I am currently looking to apply for an internship with the CP for the Fall Advantage, anyone looking to do the same message me. Also any advice for applying, either go to the presentation or do the on-line presentation. Another question is what are all the options to work in? Has anyone done or looked into Sports Management/Recreation? That is what I would love to get into.

Hey there. Unfortunately I won't be done in time to do Fall 2008, so I will have to do Spring 2009. As for applying, either way is fine. You don't have a better chance of being accepted for one over the other. There are a lot of options for roles. You can see them all here: www.wdwcollegeprogram.com.

Okay sorry to be raining on everyone's parade here, but I've heard 'you get what you put into it' said on this site SO many times, and it's not a fair statement. The only people you will ever hear saying that are the people who had a good experience. Obviously, you get a lot of that here since after all it is a Disney site. Even though I HATED the program, I'm still here because I still love Disney.

I went to work every day - never did I call off. And I love all things Disney, so I was SO excited about this program. I knew it would be hard work, but I was so sure it would be worth it. Not the case. My trainer was awful, constantly made rude racist/sexist/just mean remarks. I tried talking to him about it, he laughed at me. I reported it to the boss, and my trainer made my life there hell after that. There were also a couple other very rude co-workers of mine who just resented the CPers.

I loved my roommates and I loved getting into the parks for free and putting smiles on guests faces...but if I had to do it all over again? I wouldn't of signed up for the program. I wasted a semester (my school doesn't give credit for the program) being constantly stuck with people who were just mean, whether it was because my trainer made them think I was an awful person or because they just didn't like CPers.

It's really just not fair to imply that if you didn't enjoy the program, you must of just been lazy and not tried. Believe me, I tried. You guys need to accept that just because someone had a bad experience, it doesn't automatically mean it was their fault.
