Disney CM friends/family discount?

Has anyone here ever worked as a CM or gotten the friends/family discount from a CM?
We have a friend who works in the MK and said he thought the he could get us a 40% discount on the rooms. But he was a little fuzzy on the details. I was wondering if anybody here knew anything about this.

Thanks for any help!

CM can get 40% off rooms for family and friends only if they won't be staying with u. They will just need to show their wdw ID b4 u checkin to go in effect or no discount.

So, we would just book the room in the normal fashion, and then the discount would be applied later? Is that right?
Would the discount apply to any packages?

There are discount tickets that are sold at Company D (the CM store). When I was a CM last year (before they changed the ticket system) the discounts were meaningless practically. You only saves about 5 dollars per ticket. The only one that saved you money was the AP (about 40 dollar savings).

When our CM friend has booked our rooms for us in the past to get the discount, she has called and made the reservations for us--we didn't do it ourselves. She then had the confirmation info sent directly to us. As Glite82 said, the CM then has to go put their ID on file at the resort sometime before you check in or could be with you at check in. We've never used any packages or asked her about tickets so I can't answer those questions for you. The past two years in early December we've gotten a $49 per night rate at the All Stars going this route, which is actually 50% rather than 40%. That may just be at certain times of the year though.

I believe a CM discount can only be used for one room. A CM can only use their discount 5 times in one year, so every extra room that they book that number goes down. They also have to book it online through the cast portal, no longer can you call 1-407-WDISNEY and say "With a CM discount". Cast Members are now using the portal. Tell him that he can look under the "TEAM Discounts" link on the cast portal. It'll be there.

CM's can book multiple rooms at their discount. My cousin works at Epcot, and here's what he did for our last trip. He has a CM website that he makes our room reservations at. He puts in the dates of our trip and then the site shows which resorts are available. It was about 3 months out, so only Deluxe resorts were available (which was ok for us because we wanted AKL anyway.) He booked 2 rooms for us at his 50% discount.

As for tickets, he said that CMs get 14 days per year when they can get 3 people in for free, as long as he was with us. Again, no problem. The tickets we got when with him were also valid Park Hopper tickets. Often he left, and we would go to another park with the same tickets.

Natalia1681, you should get in contact with your CM friend so they can get to work on this for you...they're the ones who have to do all the work.

ALSO: When he ate with us he got us a 20% discount (at most restaurants, the CMs have a list of restaurants which participate). We ate at Jiko, California Grill, Brown Derby, and Sci-Fi for example. Plus he could get us 20% off merchandise at most shops.
