So im interested in going into the Disney Career Start Program and was wondering if the people who go into life guarding guard at the parks or at the hotels. Im already certified with the same aquatics license that Disney uses does that help my chances?

Thanks,

I don't know much about placement for Career Start but I know that the College Program lifeguards are at both the hotels and parks so I'm guessing it would be the same.

The recruiters are really good at placing you where you would be the best. If you have experience lifeguarding they would see that on your application. With you already being certified you may not have to go to the certification class (since they give people that role who haven't been a lifeguard) but Disney may require more tests or something.

What kind of certification is required? It would be a given that CPR, AED, and first aid have to be on the list, I already have those, through the YMCA, and those are through the RED CROSS too. Would being a LEVEL I and II YMCA swim official help as well? I'm also waiting to take the USA Swim official test

Nothing is required before you get there. They will get you certified if you aren't already. I don't know what certifications are required but I can ask a friend who was a lifeguard at Beach Club next time I see her.

Hey! glad to see a fellow washingtonian! If you want to be a lifeguard i would definitely put it on your resume BUT dont be dissapointed if you dont get it. I think with your background you shouldnt have a problem but as others said the recruiters are very good at placing you where you should be. I was in merchandise and, while it wasnt my first choice in the beginning, it was the best fit for me! I was put a Wilderness Lodge with other people from seattle and portland because the hotel is supposed to look like the northwest. i absolutely loved it! good luck!
