Disney bus drivers

Is it my imagination or are the "Disney" bus drivers not as chatty as they used to be? I can remember listening to all sorts of fun information about WDW.It was on a "Disney " bus when I heard that EPCOT can stand for" Every Person Comes Out Tired " or
"Every Paycheck Comes On Thursday". Can anyone remember any others?

I can't say I remember a chatty Disney Bus Driver...

I remember a bus driver that played these ridiculiously loud sopund effects during the ride back to the resort from DTD. It was like 12:30 AM and people were falling asleep and all of a sudden these noises started to blare.

I know not really about chatty drivers, but I had to put it in some thread.

Yeah I remember this one lady coming from Fort Wilderness to the TTC who sang songs and joked about how we were all spending an obnoxious amount of money. A baby was crying, and she told the baby "hey, no crying, you're mommy and daddy spent a lot of money on overpriced park tickets" and such. And when singing "the wheels on the bus" she sang "the money on the bus goes bye, bye, bye...all to Disney World!"

It really depends on who you get. It seems like there are many dirves that are living the retired life and the bus thing is just something for them to do. There are still many drivers out there that have fun with it all and enjoy being around guests. You usually can tell some of the more friendly ones by looking to see if they pin trade. I do wish more of them would at least look at you and smile.

I've only had one chatty bus driver, and that was fine, but I don't really expect to be entertained on the buses. I just want to get to my destination without getting the crap scared out of me.

Asking a bit much there, aren't you Gary?

I always thought it was interesting when a bus driver pointed out that the buses are the "fastest ride at Disney World".

Yikes!

If the buses were on tracks, that would be one thing. I prefer they pay attention to the road.

On my last trip we had a really funny bus driver on the way to Blizzard Beach from CBR. Has anyone seen the Brak show on Cartoon Network Adult Swim? Our bus driver looked exactly like and talked w/the same accent as Brak's dad. He was pretty talkative and sang a little too, I think. -Stephanie

While they are driving the bus, they're not supposed to be talking to the guests. Also, for some of the drivers, english is not their best language.

I am sure this is a rule for them to drive at Disney.

I have been on Buses with lots of great drivers. I guess it depends who you get!

Just like when you are driving, the main attention must be on the road. The drivers are allowed to talk to guest as they need without restriction.

I seem to remember a bus driver saying that EPCOT meant Every Pocket Cleaned Out Today.

I have noticed that some drivers are more chatty than others. Just like life.

Hey ya Woody.

LOL, I don't want to get all involved in this duscussion again but for the record, Federal Commercial Driving Law prohibits passengers and Drivers from conversing while the bus is in motion.

The irony in this is that the Americans with Disabilities Acts then require drivers to announce major intersections and stops along their routes.

P.S. I am only a seasonal driver for Disney now. I am currently working in Operations and DOT compliance for another company here in Orlando.

WOW, what a disgunteld cast member. Thats not what the Disney Magic is all about even if it is true. I would equate that to the grocery check out clerk informing you of the ridiculously high prices you pay at their store while they throw your produce around.

My dad breaks that a lot then i guess (he doesn't drive a bus for disney though). lol. But that's just how he is.....he could strike up a conversation with just about anyone!

(niteobsrvr, niteobsrvr, niteobsrvr, etc.)

I am going to write that down several times until I get it right!
Sorry, about "niteobserver". Cool, "Operations and DOT compliance" sounds good! I knew you'd set the record straight! Thanks for helping us out.:D

I would have to agree, a few years ago we would have several busdrivers, each trip down, talk to us, tell us interesting info on WDW, make funny jokes, they made it more interesting, however the past few years (this year included) it seems like they more unhappy in their jobs, in fact quite complaining about all of the things that were taken away from them by Disney. Sad but true.
