Disney Bought the MUPPETS

Fine, Eisner is wonderful. The company is in fine shape. D@mn its legacy. D@mn its former reputation. D@mn the morals and principles it was founded upon and upheld until the mid-90's.

God forbid that future generations experience any of this. If you believe that spitting on a companys rep, legacy and values is fine, then that's your perogative.

And how do you know2 I'm some "little kid"?

Yes very upsetting.

This doesn't look good.
As a huge fan of the muppets, I say again, "This doesn't look good."
How long before we see the first of what I am sure will be many cheap exploitations and even cheaper milking of Jim Henson's beloved muppets?
Disney is a much different company than it was fourteen years ago. Worse off, in many regards.

First Pooh, then Mayazaki, now The Muppets??!! Is nothing sacred? Is there anything Disney doesn't own? Everything I like will be swallowed by Disney. I got The Muppet Movie for my birthday this week and I was very excited since I heard there were great extras on it. Well that was until I forgot that Disney owns it now and before I even got a DVD menu I had to skip through a Disney Logo, 7 or 8 ads for Disney products and then to complete the Disney sandwich, Tinkerbell and the Disney Castle. The only Special Feature was a dumb behind the scenes of a Disney attraction. I am seriously going to try to find a non - Disney version of this movie. After hitting play I get another Disney Logo before the Jim Henson Logo and then opening credits. If I had a DVD-R drive I'd rip myself a new DVD that was just the movie.

I am upset with the Hensons for this. If Disney decides it wants Farscape I'm sure they have enough money. Thankfully Farscape is allready out on DVD so I won't have to sigh every time I pop it in. I really think Jim Henson will puke in his grave :hurl: if Disney buys out all his copyrights, or absorbs his beloved company. Yes I have Dark Crystal, I think it is an MGM release. MGM is a great film company, however they're new "film roller coaster" logo is annoying also.

Sorry for the rant, I haven't allways had this opinion of Disney. Ever since Eisner took over it just seemed like there was less heart and more cold corporate machinery. The Rescuers will allways be a favorite of mine. When my Mom bought me the read along album I was SOOO HAPPY! I still have it too. :) Since The Little Mermaid, Disney has been making bad movies, both creatively and quality - wise. I'll skip talking about movies like "The Priest".

Ok, nuff said.

I agree that Disney was a far different company when Jim was alive. I was really crushed to hear about it too. I think with all the uniqueness going on at his studios he wouldn't have wanted Disney to own anything more than distribution rights. Now it appears as if Disney is in a position to change who and what the muppets are and are about. Maybe Miss Piggy will get a call from her agent and be allowed to leave. LOL Sorry had to say it. :) Ahh... BYE!

Really I wish all The Muppets the best. I love them all. Thank you everyone who made / make The Muppets come alive in their unique way. Thank you Jim Henson for inventing The Muppets wich are (in case you didn't know) a combination Puppet / Marionette.

The central worry here is that the creativity in Disney has gone downhill. The Disney Channel isn't what it used to be, animation quality is much much worse and ABC continues to suffer. I'm sorry, but I just don't see any sort of turnaround in the future as a permanent thing.

And if anything, any turnaround now has basically come about by acts of desperation and a total lack of principles and morality.
