Hello everyone
Can anyone tell me if the boardwalk is open to guest who are staying off site, and if you are off site, say at one of the Downtown area hotels, can you use the disney transportation system to get around?
Thanks

The Resorts are open to anyone to have a look around or eat.

At DTD the transport system is run for the hotel plaza hotels, not by Disney. They run to the parks as per their own schedule. You`ll have to walk to the Marketplace to get a Disney bus. Technically you should pay a flat daily fee for use of WDWs transport network if you arn`t staying on property but I`m not aware of this being enforced.

I've never seen in enforced. In fact, I've asked drivers how to get to parks the fastest, and they're all too happy to let me know.

I don't do it often, but there have been a few instances where work has taken me to Orlando, and it's my only way to get my Disney fix.

We stay off site every year when we visit and usually spend a few hours at the Boardwalk every trip. We park across the street from the Boardwalk parking lot (there is a special day-guest parking lot) and walk around, get ice cream, go to the International Gateway by Epcot, etc. This is usually on our first day when we arrive early afternoon, but don't want to burn a day at the parks. It's very beautiful and relaxing to walk around. I highly recommend it as a planned destination.

The Boardwalk is an amazing place to go visit. A good idea would be to leave Epcot through the international gateway and visit following a day at the park. The boardwalk has lots of great entertainment and some very good restaurants for a late dinner.

If you have a valid admission pass to any of the WDW parks then you are entitled to use WDW transportation, you do not have to pay extra.

The Boardwalk is a shopping & dining destination ( like DTD) and is open to anyone, whether you are staying on or off property, visiting the parks or not. There is a public parking lot for those who care to drive their own vehicles.

Highly recommend an evening stroll from the showcase to the boardwalk. My wife and I think it is one of the more quiet and relaxing things to do at the World.

Monorail Tour

I agree with all theBoardwalk suggestions but I have to say take some time and see the three monorail resorts. The GF lobby is something not too miss as is the Polynesian. The Contemporary is a classic. And if time allows take theboat over to the Wilderness Lodge as well.
