Ummm...yeah, okay. I'm a huge Disney fan, and yes they might not have thrills, but there at least more than 15 rides!!! Don't get me wrong, I liked IOA, but when I went I was done with the park at 3 in the afternoon. Also, on a side not, better check you're facts about Best Theme Park, I believe that good old Cedar Point up in my backyard holds that title, they actually have 16 coasters, not 2...

I do believe I have checked on my facts, just the other day on Local 6 they reported that a world wide vote on themeparkinsider.com similar to the one last year came to results that Islands of Adventure was VOTED BY THE PUBLIC as the best theme park in the world!

Unless you have been to Cedar Point, you can't make the judgement that IOA is better! Most people haven't been to Ohio and that's why IOA might be rated as better. Beleive me, hands down, Cedar Point in 100% more thrill rides!!! Secondly, I happen to love Doctor Doom, and the Dragon Coasters (Fire and Ice) so I would say there is maybe 4 or 5 "thrill rides". I happen to love Universal and IOA, I don't go every time we go down to DISNEY but we go every other time or so. Disney is where we go to visit. More to see, more to do, and it's not just "Magic" anymore. It has "magic" and more which is more than Universal can say. I like Universal and IOA a lot but I would never just take a trip down to Orlando for them. I go for DISNEY and then I might do the other parks. You can't compare both parks they are different and let's face it there is a heck of a lot more to do at Disney and you CAN"T argue that. Also, my brother is a born again and he always tells me Disney is the DEVIL. Mostly because of the movies. I have to laugh because Honestly, they probably can't afford to go there (which they could if they wanted to) and if they tell the kids that, they don't have to worry about them "missing" out on anything. Don't believe that either. Disney is a business like any other business but as my son says, they have something in the water that keeps us coming back year after year!~

Heading for the great escape.
The only thing that spoils IOA is the groups of ill mannered un educated over excited pubescent teens. Most of who feel they should be as much the centre of attention as the attractions.

Well that and the sour faced staff.

Better check out screamscape.com because they just had a "world wide vote" and Cedar Point come out on top.

Top Amusement Park - Cedar Point

Top Theme Park - IOA

those were the rankings you 2 were arguing about.

now.. for some more more rankings and commentary..

------------------------

Travel Channel

#1 - IOA (however, I feel it was biased given Discovery Channel's close ties to Universal)

------------------------

CNN

#1 - Magic Kingdom (no bias... 1- they're a news station.. it would violate journalistic integrity, 2 - they're owned by Time Warner, ie Warner Bros, ie Disney's competitor)

------------------------

Themeparkinsider.com

User Reviews (opinions are like @ssholes...)-
#1 - IOA

Annual Attendance (good.. I like hard evidence.. makes for a better argument)
#1 - MK

------------------------

Americas Best

Total Attendance-
#1 Disneyland Park
http://www.americasbestonline.com/amusemen.htm

------------------------

Orlandorocks.com

Attraction Based on User Top 10
#1 - Power Tower - Valleyfair

Attraction Based on most ridden
#1 - Space Mountain - Magic Kingdom (in fact, the top 6 in this one are all MK attractions, with 3 IOA attractions and 1 Epcot attraction finishing it off

------------------------

Screamscape
#1 - Cedar Point (3 years running.. not bad)

------------------------

now that I've posted enough statistic to choke a horse, here comes my next question.

If you're such an IOA fan, why not leave this site and go to ioacentral....

This is a Disney site.

lol...if Islands of Adventure is the greatest Theme Park in the world, remind me what it's theme is. I have yet to find one...do not say "adventure"; that is arguably a secondary theme at every Disney theme park. Unlike Disney's fantastical, discovery-based, entertainment-based, and natural parks, IoA has no solid theme to me--themed rides, no park theme. Relate Poseidon to Jurassic Park to Dr. Seuss to Popeye to Spiderman for me. There is a difference between parks that have themed rides and parks that are themed to me. Six Flags themes...some...of their rides, yet I still consider Six Flags parks "amusement parks" b/c there is no park theme. I don't honestly consider Islands of Adventure a theme park...but feel free to point out its theme to me...perhaps I missed it entirely, and it's all a giant lesson on the future of mankind or something....dinosaurs, super heroes, and the Cat in the Hat...

I think IOA is more themed then most amusement parks. Amusement parks have a "themed" ride but IOA has themed areas. For instance, They have "Super Heroes" Section, a "cartoon" section, a "Dr. Seuss" section, etc. I don't understand the section that houses Jurassic Park but they also seem to have some sort of "medieval" section. You don't find "sections" like that at 6 flags, so I do beleive it's more of a themed park. If I'm wrong, correct me. Because if the stores around the area and the food places are also themed than to me that's a "themed park". I mean let's face it, nothing can compare to Disney but I don't think that IOA is all that bad. It's cute to visit once in awhile but I wouldn't want to center my vacation around it!

You better recheck your facts :) . You saw it on 'local 6' but you live in Central Florida. I love a lot of theme parks, but if you want roller coasters, Cedar Point is the undisputed king. There isn't even anything to discuss. Pull out the Guiness Book of World Records and look up roller coasters. :sohappy:
