I heard some "predicters" want this to replace the Lost Continent over at Universal.
Okay sorry that this is my first post on this thread (have been lurking for a while and rolled my eyes at a lot of these posts if that says anything).

But the selfish part of me would LOVE this and it would fit the literary theme of IoA somewhat. However the monkey's paw would curl and it would be based on the Netflix show 😭

Anyway I'm off to see the Baltimorons in about an hour and I haven't been to the movie theater in over a year.

I am sure Disney is happy with the results of Freakier Friday….hopefully this will give Disney thoughts on green lighting more mid budget movies…. Also nice seeing Hamilton make as much as it did despite.being available on Disney plus…. That is like extra money for Disney… I don’t recall seeing even much promotional spend

Despite a rocky start of the year I’m sure Disney is actually happy with the results of 2025 in general no matter what a few posters around here claim.

I noticed this week theaters are playing some *new* titles once or twice a day with the show times all beginning before 5 PM. So now if you have a 9-5 and you can’t get there on the weekend, you’re just committed to waiting til streaming. Of course the theater also may not have fully-functioning air-conditioning (incredibly, many such cases in Florida) so maybe they’re doing some of us a favor.

Speaking of classic movies…. It is being reported that The Wizard of Oz generated 65 million in sales on The Sphere Las Vegas alone
That's pretty funny. A hundred year old movie shown in one theater is doing better than a lot of new movies this year world wide. Movies are just not what they used to be. I was looking at the 70s & 80s best picture winners. All of them are considered classics now. I watched Ordinary People last night in honor of Robert Redford's death. Oh Mary....

I agree there are a ton of great movies of the 70’s & 80’s… I grew up in the 80’s afterall…. Some of those did not become classics till history showed them as such…However there are many great movies still released today… I do think Anora was worthy of its best picture win…. It is tougher for a film to breakout these days….. as there is more content then ever in the history of film…it is probably partially the reason for raising the best picture from 5 to 10 nominations
