I wouldn't even have thought of this, cheers! Will take this into account in the future.
That's how I started with APs. The unfortunate downside [if it's really a downside] is the temptation that comes to bear between those two trips... I ended up doing two extra trips that year!

1) To get the discount (either one) you have to show the appropriate card, either DVC Member or your AP. It always pays to ask at every location if they offer a discount.

2) Ignoring Tables in Wonderland discounts, the DVC and AP discounts are generally the same at most places, but there are definite differences. AllEars has PDF files listing all the discounts so you can see which would apply, and which would be better in a given circumstance.

Also, these are the discounts for 2010. Though most will probably return or only be tweaked slightly for 2011, there's no 100% guarantee until the new list comes out in January.

Wouldn't the AP be more worth it if you were to go frequently? Because reasons 2/3 can be obtained without one. If you're only going one week a year or so, I don't know how difficult it would be to justify the price of the AP.

If you plan on going at least ten non-consecutive days in a year and park hop, it is cheaper to buy an AP.

dont think we can do that from the uk, sadly i think its only for florida residents! do you have the AP you think its worth it? if all four of us got one we probs would only visit 2/3 times a year? you think its worth while? i looked at the benefits but im not sure... my folks have the DVCbut the discounts confuse me and them! thanks for your help!

You can absolutely purchase an AP even if you live in the UK. You don't have to be a Florida resident to purchase one, I live in another state and I am an AP holder. If it's worth your money you should definitely purchase one.

The reference to being a Florida Resident was about the monthly payment plan to purchase APs, not the APs themselves. FLA residents are the only people who don't have to buy their passes outright.
