My parents are going to WDW in May next year and we are going to go for our honeymoon in October.... if they buy two annual passes can we use them? just think it would save a load of money but not sure if the annual passes are named? We all go at least twice a year so think the AP's would be good as long as we all could use them! Any adive would be good! Live in the UK if that helps! cheers everyone! :xmas:

yes the annual passes are named. and once they use it they'll have their fingerprints stored in the card. its strictly for that person. you should just get the annual pass but the pay by month. thats what we do and we go every weekend.

Tickets and Annual Passes are not transferrable. If you try to use them and get caught, they will be confiscated and lost. Expensive mistake!

dont think we can do that from the uk, sadly i think its only for florida residents! do you have the AP you think its worth it? if all four of us got one we probs would only visit 2/3 times a year? you think its worth while? i looked at the benefits but im not sure... my folks have the DVCbut the discounts confuse me and them! thanks for your help!

the annual passes are definitely worth it if you spend money here. we use the discounts that the passes give us. if you also plan on going from park to park and it also gets you free parking if you're getting a rental car.

If you are staying in a Disney resort hotel, you are entitled to use all of the Disney transportation: Monorail, bus, boats. You will be able to get to anyplace on the property.

If you have your own car and are staying on property, you are able to park free at your resort as well as at all of the theme park lots.

If I were you, I would get the help of a good travel agent that specializes in WDW trips.
They know all of the ins & outs. :)

if you decide to drive to wdw from the airport you can use disney's transportation. if you're RENTING the car to use than you might want to consider Disney's Magical Express which provides FREE transportation from the Orlando International Airport to the resort that you are staying at. If you are using the car then you dont have to pay for parking at the resort you are staying at. There are buses that transport you to the four parks and downtown disney, water parks. the passholder will help you get discounts on certain dining and merchandise on property and the room (if you haven't booked already).

Wow! This thread is all over the map!

APs are non-transferable. APs are worth getting if you would spend more on tickets over the course of the year than the cost of the AP. They can also be worth it if you can get an AP discount of your resort room that saves you enough to buy the AP that gets you the discount.

APs also get you discounts on some purchases, some meals and entrance to Passholder-only events every now and then. They also get you free parking at the parks. Resort guests also get free parking at their resort and the parks.

All Disney transportation is officially free to anyone who has a park ticket. You don't need to be a resort guest or an AP holder or anything else. And they never check for tickets anyway.

I was wondering about this as well, because they say that the transportation is complimentary, but I really don't think it mattered who uses it

Yes, they advertise the Complimentary transportation as a "benefit" of staying in a resort, but it's actually open to anyone.

Two things:

1) Only Florida residents are able to pay by the month.

2) They don't store your fingerprints. It's a biometric scan that measures the width of your finger, not your print.

well i'm sorry i was wrong about the fingerprints. does it matter though? the annual pass is for one person and one person only. i would recommend getting the annual pass. its the best decision i ever made. i would only get it if....

1. you plan on spending money (merchandise, dining) at disney and want discounts.
2. want to use the park hopper and go from park to park.
3. free parking at the parks but you get free parking at the parks if you stay on property.

Wouldn't the AP be more worth it if you were to go frequently? Because reasons 2/3 can be obtained without one. If you're only going one week a year or so, I don't know how difficult it would be to justify the price of the AP.

S

stphnbogert

well it all depends on how long you go for those 2/3 times. if you're going a week two three times then yeah an annual pass would be worth it. it all depends on how long your visits are.

yeah sorry. i was just trying to clarify what i wrote. lol. i'm guessing since she's going on her honeymoon that she is staying for at least a week.

Even if you only go once a year, you can time your trips to use an Annual Pass for two trips.

For many years I would visit WDW for a week every December. On the first trip, I would go the 2nd week in December and buy an Annual Pass. Then the second year I would go the first week of December. Because the AP expires 1 year from purchase, it was still good through my second trip, usually expiring the day we left for home, or the day after.

This alone usually saves money on the price of admission across the two trips. (It just requires a bigger outlay of money for the first trip) Two 7-day base tickets are within about $10 of a new AP. If you wanted to add Park Hopping to those 7-day tickets, they're now more expensive than an AP.
And all that is even before you start factoring in the shopping discounts and possible room discounts.

Then there's the ability to buy the Tables in Wonderland dining discount card...

I wouldn't even have thought of this, cheers! Will take this into account in the future.
