Disney announce an opening timeframe for Princess Fairytale Hall

Remember that all of the Princess M&G's were going to go where the Seven Dwarf's Mine Train Coaster will be (it was the first concept). So a M&G had to go somewhere.

The gutting and recontructing of that area is far more complicated that what you would think. Electrical, plumbing and more exits have to be constructed where there weren't any before. That means lots of permits and other leagal jumbo has to be done. It isn't going to be a cheap cover up either but rather a very elaborately decorated area as if you were in a castle (from the drawings I've seen).

I would bet the legal and permitting is quiet extensive. Disney is probably twice as hard to build something at because you have to clear the government legal and the the Disney internal legal mess.

I don't understand why they didn't aim to open the rest of Fantasyland by this summer. With the crowds becoming so heavy it would have made more sense to have those walls down. Haven't seen many updated photos of the area, how much is there left to do?

I posted this in another thread:

Based on the last aerial views from April and the over the wall photos here are the thing I can spot that still need to be done:

- Castle walls (these still have quite a ways to go)
- Paving everywhere
- Bridge the Belle's village still needs to be finished
- Lining of the water features
- Gaston's statue
- Roofs on the some of the village buildings still need to be complete.
- They have just started framing out some new structures at the at the end of the bridge to Be Our Guest.
- There is some new rock-work going in up on the side of the BatB building
- Landscaping
- There is still scafolding at Prince Eric's Castle.
- Still scaffolding at the round building at the back of Belle's village.

Thanks for the update! When we were there in January it looked like there was hope that the Little Mermaid ride might open for our August trip.

Although this seems like a long time for something to be built from an existing building thinking about how long construction takes in NYC it doesn't seem so long. My boyfriend and his father are currently renovating an apartment building and you would think since they are keeping the existing structure and just redoing the insides it would have been a 3 to 4 month project. In actuality it is a 2 year project because of several reasons. The asbestos removal alone took several months just to make sure everything was done properly and then to get the clearance from the city that the asbestos had actually be removed. Also remember that during the busy season they will probably get 5 to 8 good construction hours each night if that depending on how long it takes to set up and then clean up by opening the next day. Summer extra magic hours can go until 2 or 3 am and the park opens as early as 8. That is only 5 hours. If it takes them 1 hour to get in there and 1 hour to clean at the end of the night then that is 3 hours each night they can work. So I bet the fact they probably won't be working during the day also drags this process out.

Also for everyone that is saying another dark ride was going to move in by 2014 I though with the last plan update of the Fantasyland expansion that this was intended to be the princesses permanent home. I didn't think there was ever hope of this being a dark ride again. Remember it was the original plans that spared SWSA and then these new permanent plans are what had it axed for the princess meet and great.

Does any one have any new information on the Princess Fairtale Hall?

Has work started?

Is the opening still slated for late 2013 as was reported a few months ago? The most recent release from the Disney Parks Blog (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/new-fantasyland-grand-opening-set-for-december-6-at-magic-kingdom-park-at-walt-disney-world-resort/?CMP=SOC-WDWFY12Q2FBDM0332) just gives the generic 2013 as an opening date.

"As previously planned, the New Fantasyland expansion will continue with the opening of Princess Fairytale Hall in 2013 and the debut of a new Disney “mountain” in the form of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in 2014."

I think the biggest thing to remember is this:

* November-December 2012 = Beauty and the Beast area opens, LM opens, remainder of Storybook Circus will be open by then too.

* Disney will want to have another big opening to trumpet for the holidays in 2013, after everyone has enjoyed a summer with the Fantasyland offerings that opened in the 2012 holiday season

* Princess Hall will be the 2013 holiday offering, staggered to give something to look forward to in 2013

* then for the holidays in 2014, TDO will open the Seven Dwarves Mine Train

* Something we don't yet know about will open in time for the holidays in 2015...and I am betting it will be Tomorrowland related.

* 2016 or 2017 will be "Pandora - the World of Avatar" at DAK

* 2018 or 2019 will be a complete remodeling of DHS

I'm pretty sure Mine Train would open in early 2014 not late 2014.
In fact I think secretly the goal is to open the Mine Train up by the holidays of 2013. The 2014 date is in case they have problems with the ride testing and devlopment and weather/construction related issues.

And for this reason I was hoping that we would see a Summer 2013 opening of Princess Fairtale Hall

That's just too suspicious to take that long. Something BIG regarding NextGen concepts must be going on inside the WDW version to cause such a long downtime.

Didn't you guys see Beverly Hills Cop III. They've closed it down so they could secretly set up printing presses inside to print NextGen Disney Dollars. ;)
