Disney and Tiger

Found this on another Disney website:

Golf Channel - Tiger Woods is set to join the Walt Disney Company as a spokesman, according to several published reports.

Wednesday's Wall Street Journal reported that the company is planning to hire Woods to do commercials, endorse their merchandise and be involved in Disney's ESPN unit.

Woods, who has similar deals with several major companies including Nike and American Express, earned more than $50 million last year through endorsements.

Personally, I like this combination. Tiger Woods is extremely popular and, from what I have seen watching him on television, he seem like a really nice guy (not to mention he has won the PGA Tour's Disney golf tournament multiple times).

Does the other Disney site have a date for that report? I remember reading that Tiger Woods and Disney entered into an agreement a few years ago, so I Googled and found that there was a deal between the two that started in June of 2001:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/golf/usopen01/tiger/2001-06-14-disney.htm

and

http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/story?id=1214051

and one more here:

This could be a brand new deal for different services. If so, I hope they do showcase Tiger more in commercials and promotional material because he is very popular and seems to be a pretty good guy.

I can see the commercial now.

Tiger now that you have destroyed everyone again in this tournament what are you plans now? " I AM GOING TO DISNEY WORLD"

I know Tiger's done some promotional work in the past for Disney. I remember seeing video of him riding Mission Space when it opened.

Or, "I'm going to that place 2 miles south of my house."

I wonder if he'll start playing in the Funai Classic at the P&M. I don't think he's played in it in the past few years.

Smart move by Disney:sohappy: Landing the most popular golfer in the world. More then likely Tiger will now play in the Funai Classic which in turn will boost the TV ratings which have been pathetic the past few years when Tiger hasn't played. He has won the tournament twice in 96 and 99.
