If you go by the directors last film… The Favourite… Poor Things is playing similarly to that film which happen to receive a bump after Oscar nominations… The Favourite ended up with just under 96 million worldwide and continue to play in theaters until a couple of weeks into April… I think most weekends it never made over 4 million domestically…it just kept hanging on…If your expecting this film to put up blockbuster numbers to be a hit… it won’t it, but Disney didn’t expect it to either…I Poor things is doing fine right now… plus I feel there is more buzz for Poor Things right now… I would suspect all parties are happy with the results so far

It certainly could, but I think we have learned not to go by films tracking anymore as a likely situation. Remember a lot people said Migration would track the same as Migration and later after it released said it was tracking similar to Wish...as it bypassed it the next two days.

There is likely too much award show flavor films playing right now for the current level of audiences to choose from for Poor Things to take the cake and awards show have meant much less in recent years for general public checking something out in theaters.

It is interesting that Sony's raunchy romcom is doing so well and hangining in there. I feel like I did not see much marketing for it at all unitl three weeks before it was released. I am definitely not the target market for it though.

Just caught up on the thread after a few days away and phew. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was picking up the stench of GPT on here. The crazy thing to me is that they're still persisting in doing it at least into Saturday.

The most hilarious one to me is what it did in response to Tony posting his cornfield image.
Oh, man! I didn’t see it.

They had only one good Star Wars product and they even ruined that as well. By handing over the show to Bo Katan.

It had to be Dave Filoni that did that one, he loves pushing all of his characters into vital roles. Even when they definitely don't deserve it.

Since only Guardians turned a profit... perhaps maybe Disney should stop making movies that are... bad and lame. They look so lame they belong on the Disney Channel. Yet somehow they are spending over 200 million each movie to make these poopsicles.
The only things that really stuck out to me as lame were the same effect in two different movies: both Ant-Man and TLM when characters grew to huge size, they looked messed up. Should have perfected that before releasing IMO.

Maybe they should stop using the cheapest animation houses in India for their CG. I counted more than twelve independent CG houses at the end of Ant-Man. They must have all taken ten minutes a piece. That is why it looks so wrong.

I agree, it seems like there's a bunch of Disney Bots on the boards. How else can people be so positive about the stuff they're making? Disney's new content has been so bad.
Anything you don't like is bad?

I would think any adult fan of Disney would be able to find something to like in what Disney's currently doing. But maybe I think that because I'm a fan.

What are you a fan of?

There are plenty of fans of teams who have lost an entire season(s) of performing.

You are back to gatekeeping fandom.

B-but how are they supposed to slash their budgets in half and stop using "cheap" animation houses at the same time? There's absolutely no winning when one camp thinks things look cheap (like they belong on the Disney channel) and the other camp thinks budgets are too large... which they weren't pre-Endgame.

Special effects shots are not always necessary. You can have a good story and movie with less special effects shots.

There are also other ways to cut costs than special effects.

This is oddly framed as if it is a mutually exclusive thing.

Budgets were indeed too high pre-end game.

Phrases like this to the poster insinuate they are not a fan because they don't currently like what is being produced of the company.

You can be a fan of the company's past work, while not being a fan of the current work. You stated an adult fan of Disney would find something ot like in what the company is currently doing. Why do they have to?

So this comes off as gatekeeping.

What does the following come off as to you?

Like someone who posted something sardonic, and knows that not every poster here is a bot? They were responding to an outrageous claim that most posters here must be AI software.

I responded to the post that was asked to explain what I meant. And now that it is, we resort to bringing up things that are not even a part of the conversation I was asked to clarify. But if you want to keep asking me my opinion on things, I will try to respond.
