Disney and Havaianas announce strategic alliance and will open flip-flop stores inside Disney Parks

If they start producing some Disney licensed flip flop, meaning some sort of Mickey graphic of the like, then this is very much no different than anything currently being sold in the parks, outside of the 3 stand alone stores. Currently you can get Crocs in footwear deparments, Citizen watches in the jewelry areas, so there will not be Havaiana flip flops too. No big invasion. If the Emporium were now a Macy's and the Barber Shop a Great Cuts, then it would be the end of days.

They already do make Disney branded flip flops.

so they are now going to turn the parks into shopping malls. Disney merch is expected but now we have pandora, sunglass hut and Havaianas. What's next Panda express and a sprint store?
I joked at the beginning of the thread, but all three choices are carefully chosen brands and it's all practical merch. People in water parks are always going to want flip flops, people in Florida are always going to want sunglasses and Pandora is a very popular brand with women.

Not justifying the moves, but at least it's not all crap that will never be used like half the crap Disney sells of their own merch.

I'd recommend to anyone who hears this news and instantly bashes this because Havaianas only makes flip flops, go check out their website and see that they do make some different shoe options.

And the Disney parks continue their trend of turning into glorified malls. Might as well bring back Paul Pressler.

They did at least in spirit, Remember Meg's replacement was a Disney Consumer Products guy, I recall saying the days of Paul Pressler are here again - Well here is the proof.

Why not - although in WDW's case it would be an AT&T store given their existing relationship to WDW

Since it is a Brazilian company, I would hope that they could help pony up for a Brazil pavillion at Epcot in exchange for the exclusivity. Of course we also still don't have any movement on a Swiss pavillion sponsored by Nestle which is a much larger company. A guy can dream, right? Unfortunately, the best expansion pad for Brazil will soon be populated by Arendelle royalty. ; )

Im pretty sure this was in the works longer than Bob Chapek has been in the Parks & Resorts segment, so I wouldnt blame him. Will these stores be staffed by Disney Cast? You can tell that the employees working sunglass hut are operating participants. I like the starbucks model better where its actual Disney Cast working the location.

Do we knows how the Pandora is run? Is it Disney or operating participants?

Once you have your Starbucks in hand with Pandora jewelry bracelet on, it's time to head to Adventureland, we we can buy our Ray-ban's from the Sunglass Hut and flip flops from the Haviana's!

And here I thought that this was a theme park.

It's becoming a themed mall with a $100/day cover charge
