I was listening to this on Fox radio during my long car ride earlier today. Very exciting! Will be a fantastic acquisition for Disney once approved.

Why will this be fantastic? I guess I don't know what Fox has that is worth this much to Disney. And even if it is, sure sounds like fantastic for Disney means awful for park guests.

What about an “Alien Encounter”?

No Ta, obviously a time when Disney wanted to appeal to older kids and it didn't work out.

I do t think FOX IP would ever make its way to the parks but if they wanted to in order to complete more with Universal (more for older kids/adults) then I think they would do it solely as a 5th gate which I think has an even smaller chance of happening.

Fox IP can stay in the cinema and on streaming thank you. Not in the theme parks

OK, you got me there because it fits so well. Disney could also slip in something Planet of the Apes in Animal Kingdom but what I was getting that is that I don't want stuff that Universal would probably have like a Die Hard attraction or Independance Day attraction

The deal is not done yet but the big question right now is the news story that the Justice Department will approve the Disney deal in 2 weeks is true. If it is then this is over. Fox can't risk an approved deal for one that might still be objected to. Comcast is still at risk as Iger clearly demonstrated in his press conference. Comcast should announce they are giving up on Fox and will go after Sky. If they do that, they can then negotiate with Disney and Fox for the 39% of Sky that Fox owns. Comcast then can also go after other assets like Sony Pictures.

im hoping that Disney will see the potential in the Planet Of The Apes IP.

following War, they could easily carry it on and even remake the original/improve the sequel stories that followed it.

CHANGE DINOLAND USA TO PLANET OF THE APES!
Yeah. They could install one of those elevated rope/net play areas like at Busch Gardens, and call it "Play-net of the Apes."

More like a predatory business model that harms, like the rest of the resort’s setup, the whole for the benefit of the part.

If you mean they price to steer into DVC...I agree.

But the problem there is that nobody will block it...rack prices, food, ticket prices have all skyrocketed as they increased DVC...so it still looks like a “deal” to many.

The core WDW customer problem - and this became very evident since the housing bubble - is clear: they just don’t have the spine to set limits and say “no”. Therefore it affects everyone.

Disney could make there own Halloween theme events for adults & teens even using horror theme mazes with Fox's ips for both Hollywood Studios & Disney California Adventure.

For a theme park in which Snow White's Scary Adventure and Stitch's Great Escape was too scary... don't count on it unless it becomes an age-restricted upcharge. And even then, Disney is loathe to do almost anything which isn't for all ages.

If this has been discussed in previous posts, I do apologize, but could Iger throw in the the termination of the IP Contract at Universal as part of the negotiations with Sky? Is it called the Mississippi contract or something like that?

I'm pretty sure keeping Disney from creating new lands or a 4th gate for Marvel is worth a massive amount of money to Comcast
