DL Chongqing and/or a 2nd park in DLS should come sooner rather than later.

The problem with India, as I understand, is price of land is ridiculous and the middle class is not there yet. The Indian government may demand a new DLR there in the next X years or so though.
And the Indian subcontinent will be profoundly effected by sea level rise.

I wonder which channel would get reruns of The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, American Dad, King of the Hill, The Cleveland Show, and Futurama not counting TBS, Adult Swim, and SyFy.

The channels that they are on right now they would just pay disney to air them syndicated including Adult Swim and FXX if they decide to do the Every Simpsons Ever marathon again I'd be surprised..

If you've read most of this thread, you would realize it isn't fanboi fantasy. The Marvel rights that Comcast has control of are a bargaining chip in a far larger corporate asset negotiation.

No one is saying Comcast will give them up, but that this is the best possible opportunity for those rights to go back to Disney in exchange for something that Comcast wants more than a Hulk Rollercoaster.

If it doesn't happen through these negotiations, you are right, it will likely never happen.

Don't forget that Disney just announced 3 'Super Hero Lands' and is planning on really integrating the Marvel heroes into the parks. So it is relatively top of mind in any negotiations for Disney.

I just don't see it. Disney makes money off of Marvel sales at Universal. And if they wanted, they have enough characters to create their own mini area (after all, lands now are really just 2 rides and some restaurants/shops). They obviously can use Dr. Strange and Guardians as they have already used/are using them in the parks. Why would Disney bargain themselves out of potentially billions (Think I remember that in 2015 Universal wanted over $1.5 billion) just to make an extra land in DHS? Besides, wasn't there already a plan for a 3rd phase at DHS that got scrapped due to cost (and with the Fox deal, it sure sounds like they are looking to spend less on parks, not more)?

I think you have to go back and re-read what many of have written in this thread. But essentially, this would be like a car dealer adding the extra warranty on a new car purchase for 'free'. Comcast only has two leverage points, Hulu and Marvel Rights, to bring Disney to the table to discuss selling the Fox/Disney portion of SKY. The Marvel rights are insignificant in comparison to even the Hulu ownership, but they are a nice 'deal sweetener'.

Again, the odds are still incredibly small, but Iger has outmaneuvered Comcast consistently through this process, so the odds of him getting something else Disney may want is still possible.

I think the best way to explain this is the Al Michaels trade. For those who don't know Al Michaels was a football announcer for ABC. ABC lost the NFL so they had no use for him and yet owed him lots of money. NBC decided they wanted to hire him and as a result Disney would save money. That alone sounds like a good deal. But Disney wanted more. Can you believe that Universal agreed to give Disney back Oswald? So Disney lost out on NFL rights and rather than being stuck paying someone for nothing NBC Universal gave up something Disney wanted and saved Disney money. What a deal and it shows how little value most things debated here have. The themepark rights are nice but what is important is the main business. For Comcast that is TV Distribution, broadband, movies and themeparks but the Marvel section in Orlando is of little value compared to HP and yes even the Simpson's have more value since they are in both US parks.

The Marvel rights could support a theme park. They are not a well regarded sportscaster and a lucky rabbit with decent merch sales in Japan. (Which was done as a token gesture to Roy E)

yes, the scale is different, but the concept is the same. Universal can't do much with the Marvel rights either. They can't make a Hulk or Namor movie without Marvel's involvement, they can only redevelop Marvel in the existing two parks in UO and anything they do around Marvel automatically promotes Disney as a company.

The current situation works, and doesn't have to be messed with...as I think we all agree and understand. But this is likely the only opportunity Disney could have to get the rights back. Not that Comcast would give them up or negotiate them away...just that a sliver of a window has opened and it will only be opened for a short period.

Funny you say Simpsons...which will also be owned by Disney. With this deal, two lands of USO will support properties owned b their competition.
