Is it just me or does the end of 2012 seem like a long time to be working on a resort? I mean the new oaks resort next to Port Orleans took only a couple of months to finish. What's so special about this resort that it's going to take two+ years to build?
What new oaks resort? Do you mean the Pet resort or the Golden Oaks home site?
The new Animation resort is a 2000 room monster - its enormous.
The Golden Oaks site, I couldn't think of what the full name was. I guess I was just thinking in terms of the resort being a value that not a whole lot would be put into it and it would be finished within a year maybe a year and a half.
Remember that at the moment the Golden Oaks site is just cleared land, very little is built there right now.
With this new value resort they have to build and fit-out 2000 guest rooms and everything else that goes with that. Its a huge project.
Ah that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up for me
what is funny is that it took only about 2 years to complete the initial construction of Disneyland or that it took just over a year to complete the Empire State Building.
I think the pace of construction projects as a whole is slower nowadays..
The ESB was built mostly by underpaid immigrants and 5 of them died during its construction...it may have been rushed (likely because there was a competition at the time to build the world's tallest building).what is funny is that it took only about 2 years to complete the initial construction of Disneyland or that it took just over a year to complete the Empire State Building.

And Disneyland was also rushed and really shouldn't have opened when it did (which is why opening day was pretty much a disaster).
Just kinda my opinion on the new resort. It looks really fun and well themed as far as the finding nemo and lion king parts go. The ariel/little mermaid place is kinda repetitive of the nemo area or vice-versa i would say the nemo section looks better however but that doesnt really bother me that its two underwater movies together. What does bother me is they chose to theme it after CARS????????????? cmon the concept art looks like a wasteland with some possibly partial animatronic figures. i dont like the idea of a cars themed section and it looks really bad to me. I'd request nemo or lion king how bout you guys?
a year ago, we didn't know we wanted a Cars-themed resort area?i'd prefer they not do what people want, but what people didn't know they wanted but once they experience it, realize they could never live without it.
deep, i know.

I wonder what it costs to build something like this...

I think unions are a bit more prominent and forceful with their rules.
I like how it says 800 construction jobs, because those people already have jobs at a construction company its really just creating work for them.
But i do like to see that more suite resorts are being made. No more of this two room stuff for a family more than 5.
