Hi, new member here, also waiting for this year's deal...but...
(I'm a FL resident, been taking advantage of the FL resident springtime deal almost every year for the past 10 years.)
I don't think they're doing it this year. WAAHHH!!! I hope I'm wrong, but this is what I've noticed:
1) Last year they announced the "Discover Disney" deal Wednesday, 1/4/17. I remember waking up that morning, since I had been anxiously waiting for it, and checking for it first thing that morning. They typically announce it a few days after the Xmas/NY busy time is done. A lot of schools nationwide went back to school yesterday, Tuesday, 1/2/18, so I was hoping something would be announced this morning, Wednesday, 1/3/18.
2) They did NOT have a deal in 2015. In 2017, it was $139 for 3 days, or $159 for 4 days. In 2016, it was the SAME. No price increase from 2016 to 2017. In fact, in 2017 there were even fewer blackout dates for the tickets than in 2016.
3) They DID update some things on their website as of this morning. For the past few months, they have listed FL resident tickets at $199 for 3 days, and $219 for 4 days, "expire 6 months after first use or by 12/30/18." This morning, they have the same tickets and prices but the fine print says, "expire 6 months after first use or by 06/30/19." THIS, I THINK, IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF EVIDENCE THAT LEADS ME TO BELIVE THAT THEY WON'T HAVE AN AWESOME FL RESIDENT DEAL THIS SPRING LIKE THEY HAVE HAD IN THE PAST RECENT YEARS.
I was thinking, "But they HAVE to do a deal this year! They ALWAYS have a highly discounted springtime FL Resident deal!" Then I remembered #2) above.
Disney World has been doing really well recently. Lots of new things everywhere, more things under construction, and attendance doesn't seem to be suffering. Actually, Orlando tourism overall is on the upswing. You know...supply and demand.
I guess the good news is that $199 for 3 days = $66/day. $219 for 4 days = $55/day.
Still not a bad deal, with no blackout dates that I could find. I know, a savings of $15-20/day/person is still a lot, depending on how big your family is.
I hope I'm wrong! I'm still going to keep checking for the next few days, but if nothing changes by the end of this week, I'm afraid we're out of luck.
Oh, one last thing to remember. If my memory is correct, one thing Disney HAS DEFINITELY done every year for the past few years is RAISE OVERALL TICKET PRICES (i.e. the "regular" tickets that non-FL-residents buy). I think that typically happens in the month of February. So as FL residents, we're still getting a great deal...
And NO I don't work for Disney! I wish I did so I could get comp tickets!
