We are in the process right now of buying into the DVC for the first time.:sohappy:

I know there are perks and benefits when you're a member. We have a family vacation scheduled (and paid for) at WL in January including PH with the dining plan. We will not be using our points since we paid for this before we bought into the DVC. We might go back for Thanksgiving 2007, or one or two other trips during the year. Would it be smarter to make some changes to our current vacation already scheduled by buying everyone an AP when we get there? I'm thinking it might come in handy later in the year but I'm just curious if it's worth going through going through the trouble for this upcomming trip.

Is there a current AP discount for DVC members? What would you do? What other perks might we enjoy in January?

DVC members gets 100 off a regular AP, and (I think) 125 off a premium AP, which includes TL, BB & PI. For an extra 60, you can also get a membership into the Disney Dining Experience, which gives you 20% off food and drink (including alcohol) in almosgt all of the table-service resturants, some counter-service resturants (in parks or resorts where there are no table-service eateries), and many on-site bars & lounges. With a big enough family, it'll pay for itself your first day there.

Now, whether or not it's worth it for you to upgrade to an AP depends on a few factors. Is your current scheduled vacation a package price, because changing one component might change everything about the package. However, one other perk of Annual Passes is discounts on rooms. Even if you just buy one annual pass, at that time of year, you might get 75 or 100 dollars your room a night.
