I am interested in buying into the DVC. Any chance Disney would offer a discounted package to attend a session or meeting reagrding buying into DVC? I would love to see the resort and go over everything in person rather than on the phone.

I have not heard of this happening for a while. We did get 2br villa at Hilton Head in 1999, for 3 nights @ $99 per with a 4th night free. It can't hurt to ask. I'd call and speak to a DVC castmember/guide and ask them about it.

When my fiancee and I looked over SSR, this was the "incentive shpiel" we got (paraphrased, of course)

We were already on a Disney vacation, and the presentation would take about 90 mins. SO, their incentive was to give us that 90 minutes back, in the form of two instant Fastpasses. We could get a Fastpass for one attraction, use one instant Fastpass somewhere else, then use our regular Fastpasses. Nifty, eh?

They often offer incentives to buy, like one time use of 100 extra points, covering closing costs, stuff like that. But not too much in the way of incentive for looking, because let's face it, they have something that's gonna get bought, if not by you, then by someone else.

Generally any incentives are purchase based. You have to buy to get the promo stuff. If they were having problems with sales, they would be advertising discounted trips to get people there, but when they will get people (like me) to buy into DVC based off of the promo video and a few questions answered over the phone, it makes no sense to give incentives just to check the place out.....

End of Year special (Financial year that is)

I just bought into DVC and managed to get an extra discount on the deal.

On top of the current $10 discount per point for buying at SSR, I was also given £1500 off for giving the name of a friend who is also a member, so I saved around $4900.

As far as I know it's only available until the 1st of October so you need to be quick.

If you don't have a friend in DVC I'm sure one of the fine people on here will help (given that I think the referrer get's something too) :)

You can use my name as a referral, if I get something out of it. ;)

I don't believe there are any incentive for current DVC members who refer people to DVC and subsequently purchase. For whatever reason, Disney does not believe in rewarding those people. Same with the Disney Visa - refer a friend, and the friend gets $50 in Reward Dollars. Ummm... what's in it for me, again?

Actually, that's not quite true. I often get flyers in the mail touting some sort of incentive to get people to buy. No incentive to get them to look, mind you, but there do seem to be incentives if they buy, be it a discount on extra points for yourself, or dues, or special one-time use of bonus points.

There are TONS and TONS of different offers going on right now, for members and non members alike.

Members - call your guide.

Non members - well ask a member what to do because I don't want to upset the sponsor.

I am fairly certain that current members do get something for referrals, so if anyone needs a referral feel free to PM me.

When you sign up to attend a sales presentation, DVC will pick you up wherever you want, then take you to wherever you want to go afterwards. At one time they also treated you to lunch, although it sounds like that has been replaced with instant fastpasses.
