My son & is wife are both military. I just e-mailed him with the info for the free hopper pass for Disney. Now we are both looking at rooms for them. Told them about Shades of Green (they are both E-6) but can't find room prices. Told them to check into pay for 4 get 3 free and a AAA discount (not sure if they are members). How can they get a discount code for the rooms to compare what would be the best deal? aAnyone had experience at Shades?

I believe they have to call to find out what their rate would be at SoG, as it depends on their rank.

However, they can get discounted rates at Disney-owned resorts of 40% through their base exchange travel/vacation office. AAA discounts are good, normally 10-20%, but only if they can't get any of the Military discounts currently offered [there are a limited number of rooms available at each resort at any given time - if they're flexible with their travel dates it may make more available]. The sooner they book the better their chances.

If they can't get the Military discount on resorts, SoG is probably their best route, but it wouldn't hurt to contact Kingdom Konsultants as well to see if they can work some of their magic for them. :D

Shades of Green probably isn't participating in the buy 4 get 3 free offer because they are owned and operated by the United States Armed Forces, not Disney. I don't think they do a AAA discount, either. You can find rates and other information at www.shadesofgreen.org.

My family has stayed there since they overhauled the hotel a few years ago and it's really nice!

Here's the link for the room rates for SoG. It's a PDF file.

http://www.shadesofgreen.org/roomrates.pdf

It looks like for E-6 it's $117 - $275 depending on the type of room.

We stayed there in 2004. It's a really nice hotel. It lacks the theme like Disney resorts. We didn't use the buses but walked to the Poly to ride the monorail to the MK. It was a nice walk. At that time there was an employee driving a golf cart to and from the hotel to the end of the driveway. He offered us a ride but we were almost there anyway.

We are using the 40 % off and staying at the WL in Oct. We had a AAA rate at CBR's pirate room. It was only $300 more to upgrade. Since my husband's ticket will be free and ours so cheap we were able to upgrade. We used KK to book our trip. Elizabeth was able to get us the room but we have go to SoG to get our tickets when we get there.

Hope this helps.

Shades of Green is not participating in the buy 4 get 3 free. The absolute best deal out there for military right now is the free tickets for them + discounted tickets for family.

Shades of Green is a great place to stay, my husband is Air Force and we've stayed there several times. Right now though, as Monty said, they can also get 40% off of rooms at a Disney hotel, and then they can take advantage of Magical Express, and get a dining plan if they would like. The value resorts tend to work out less then Shades of Green and the moderates are very close in price with this discount.

I just helped a client with this, and I would be happy to price the Disney hotels so you can compare them to the rate at Shades of Green, just send me an email or pm me.:)
