Discount at resorts for annual passholders?

Hello. We are going to be visiting from Nov. 19-Nov. 29th. We decided to buy annual passes since we will be going back in March with our daughter's school group. Do they give discounts on resort stays for annual pass holders? We are thinking of staying at the Poly or Contemporary.

Thanks so much.

Yes. They are normally released about 30 days (give or take) prior. For example we are going September 1 and the AP rate at All Star Movies is $49. One of the best places to keep track (even better than Disney's official site) is www.Mousesavers.com.

They give excellent discounts for passholders, but they don't release them until about 60 days before they're good. Go ahead and make your reservations now so you can be sure you get the room you want at the hotel you want. Then, about 60 days prior to arriving, call reservations and ask if the ap discounts have been released for the date of your reservation. Don't worry about asking for the discount, either. The reservations people have always been extremely nice to me about it.

The discounts are great for some resorts and just ok for others. If you are looking to stay at the Contemp. you may want to look at a garden wing room. We have had annual passes for the past 7 yrs and have found that tower rooms are only reduced to the minimum (20 % or so). Poly usually gives big discounts to standard garden view and lagoon view concierge rooms. November can be hit or miss for deep discount (40-45 %) If you are dead set on a resort, book your stay now. You can try and go back and apply the discount later. Be forwarned, not all rooms at all resorts are given an AP rate. So you may want to have a backup plan if the rates don't come through for you resort. We got pinched 2 years ago and had to change our resort reservations because the rate we were hoping for didn't come through. Good luck with your choice!

Thanks Shelley. Right now we are booked to stay at Marriott's Grande Vista. I just thought it would be more fun to stay on property. The only problem is, we won't get our annual passes until we arrive in November. How do you get the discounted room rate without actually having your pass yet?

Thanks.

You must call and have an AP discount applied. You need to have one AP purchased in advance of your stay to have the discount applied. Upon check-in, you may be asked to show your voucher for an AP to receive the discount. I have checked in on an AP discounted reservation & not had to show anything, but I would not count on that.

I've gotten $100 off the rate of a Contemporary tower room with the AP discount (May 2003 & 2004). I also got about 35% off the rack rate at the Polynesian in December 2003. Either make your reservation beforehand and then call to apply the discount when it comes out, or make your reservation the morning the discount comes out to avoid getting closed out of the resort you want. We got closed out of the Contemporary in December because we called at 10a and not 7a (or is it 8a) when CRO opened. This was a particularly busy day, as we'd all been waiting so long for the discount to come out, but you get the idea. By 10a, all that was left was the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Kingdom Lodge!! Book early!!

I have a question for all of you current (and long time) AP holders. Are there discounts for EVERY Disney hotel every time, or just certain ones at certain times? Next time we go, we are definitely buying AP's and would have no problem staying at ANY of the resorts. I was just wondering if I would only have a few to choose from, or were all of them included. Thanks!

Kadee, I have found that most of the resorts have AP discounts available, but not all of them, all of the time. Those resorts in lower demand will obviously have more rooms available at a discount, and you will have less to choose from at peak attendance times. You will usually be able to find something to suit your desire if you are the slightest bit flexible as to where you want to stay. Remember, there are other discounts out there besides APs, and they can be used for part of your stay if the AP rate is not available for the length of your stay. I have combined general public discounts with AP discounts for some of our stays without problems. You may have to call a few times to be successful, but you should be able to get what you want without too much of a problem. It may also be worth applying for a Disney Visa card to give yourself another chance at a discount.

A Disney Visa is a great suggestion for someone who wants a package deal. Some of their package prices are awsome! I have not seen any room only discounts through Disney Visa. Maybe I am looking on the wrong place.

You can make your reservation to stay at the Poly or Cont. or whichever Disney resort you are interested in. Just tell them you have the annual pass and they will tell you to show it at checkin. Most of the time they do not even ask for it then. I think they are nice enough that if you explain to them at checkin that you are heading over to buy the pass they will preview it after you get back. Make the reservation, because there are allot of passholders out there booking, and once the number of rooms they are allowing for passholders are sold out, you can not get the discount any longer. I go 5 times a year so this is fact!
