Disability Access Video Chat

We're heading down to WDW in 2 weeks and I need to set up DAS for my son. We've done this many times in the past. I know there is a new process and need to have a video chat ahead of time with him, to get this set up. I've been trying for the last week and a half and I either wait two hours and get kicked off in the queue or it just states that they aren't accepting any more due to wait times. Does anyone have any tips how I can do this? Any secret to getting through?

Technically you aren't getting kicked off.
The CM came on and waited a few minutes and when there was no response they end the conversation.
What you need to do is have your eyes glued to the screen.
FYI you don't NEED to do this. You can still just do it at the park.
The nice thing about doing it ahead is you can set up 2 selections per day on your ticket in advance.
But if you just go to guest services you can get DAS and then make one at a time. You just cannot do the additional 2 selections per day.

No one came on the screen. I had the screen right in front of me the whole time. Is something supposed to happen on the screen except the chat pop up that says..this may take a few hours continue to hold

You have to have a type chat first and then they have you fill out a form and then they ask you to wait for another person.
That person first types and then asks if they can video chat with you and that's when you actually see a person.

so are you prompted by the chat first?

You go to the MDE app, go to the bottom right corner were the lines are and click, then go down to accessibility and click, then go to DAS and request the chat. Then you have to type something and hit enter and then an automated thing will pop up reading to stay on this page, then EVENTUALLY POTENTIALLY HOURS LATER AND WITHOUT A SOUND NOTIFICATION a CM will type something. Then you fill out a form. Then they will type something saying ok wait for the video chat person. Then the video chat person will type something EVENTUALLY and then ask you to do the video chat.

My suggestion is to get on as soon to 7am as possible if you want to do this before hand. I had maybe a 35 minute wait for it. The scheduling portion took longer but that can be done later too. There is no need to type if you are in. That portion had changed from when I did this in October. There is a sound for a reply on the chat, so turn your volume up. I suggest doing it on a plugged in computer. If you get an error message about the chat, just log in again in a different browser. This happened more than once. It's not a big deal.

You can do this the day of, just remember that you do not get prescheduled rides that way.

I do not suggest doing this on a phone/through the app. You will get a sound notification on a computer. Just use this link.

Keep in mind that requires the person to have a camera on their computer.
I have a desktop and no webcam.
You can swap over to a phone or tablet if needed. I had 3 failed attempts on my tablet and would never use that again to start because of issues.

As I said you can always go to a different browser and log in and not lose where you are. So when they say click the chat move to a phone, log in and then click. Missing the chat notifications is a big deal. That's why I say never use a mobile to start. If one doesn't want to swap I'd sooner buy a cheap $10 cam if a system didn't come with one. Really mobiles are not good at all for this. JMO after doing two trips now with this.
