DINOSAUR snot, etc.

Does anyone remember if the giant meat-eating dino from the Dinsosaur ride actually "chases" the vehicle by following alongside for a few moments as the jeep moves forward? Do the riders really feel his breath when he comes close? And, seriously now folks, is that snot on his nose?

By the way, you know how Disneyland's Pirates ride begins suspensfully by traveling through the dark, and than the jails, etc. Anyone remember if the WDW version does that? How is it different?

PS: I hear Spaceship Earth is going to be decorated for the DL 50th party to look like a castle, and the Tree of Life will look like a hat! Way to go Eisner for pushing creativity!!

Yes, the Dino is on a track, and his nose does look moist from just paint and decoration and lifelike movements. I don't Remember ever feeling the dino breath. Go to Dinosaur on this site and there are some backstage pictures.

WDW's pirates goes through a dark cave with waterfalls, and a storm appers, then you go down the waterfall and strait into the town attack. The only jails on the ride are some in the line, and those at the end when the town is burning, and they are whistling for the dog to bring the keys. In the line, you go through a fort like building, and part of it looks like a jail, magizine, etc. normal parts of a fort. click here for a great POTC site.

And finally, no. NO paint jobs have been announced for WDW due to Disneyland's 50th. sorry. lol

hope that answers your questions!

Jails on Pirates? Not the last time I rode ;) DL's Pirates starts off in a New Orleans bayou before dropping into caves where the pirates live with entire showscenes that wdw doesn't have, including the rooms filled with gold and other riches, scenes that WDW's ride completely cuts out. WDW's ride just starts with a short cave scene (relative to DL's) before only a single drop into the naval battle. The ending is also more elaborate at Disneyland.

The dino does chase the Time Rover, although I don't remember breathing or "snot"...the vehicle goes rather fast to notice that.

The room with the gold is at the end of the WDW pirates. The Carnotaur hasnt actually moved towards the vehicle for about 2 years now. The same with the pterdactyl.

It doesn't move anymore!?

The dino no longer follows the vehicle!? Ugh, that was the only good part of the ride! What's it like now? It must look pretty stupid to be "escaping" a dinosaur that isn't chasing you. I hope it gets fixed. Stupid Disney.

Hey make up your mind. Do you remember the ride or not? In your first post you said:

By using 'if' you are implying that you DON'T remember, but in your second post you say:

If you thought it was the only good part of the ride then apparently you DO remember, so why the first question?

Anyway, I don't remember the Carnotaur as moving along beside the vehicle but toward it from the side while the vehicle was stopped. Not so much chasing as approaching. Then the TR continues on leaving the Carnotaur behind.

I'm not positive though 'cause as mentioned above, it doesn't always work.

Hmmm...I've been to WDW 3 times in the past year - end of august '03, Dec '03, and March '04 - the effect in question worked each and every time. You must be thinking of the final instance where the dino rolls down the track towards you before the ride ends - that has been fixed, last I heard.

The carnotaur still chased the time rover on his track as of march when i was there last. Sadly, most people miss this effect since most of his chase is when the vehicle starts moving again and people look forward instead of back over their shoulder so they miss the majority of his little sprint. At the time the pteradon and the compys were still stationary though, are they moving now?

Pirates of the Caribbean has quite a few differences, most noticeably the restaurant at disneyland and the double waterfalls at disneyland as opposed to only 1 drop in florida.

i hope you were only joking about the 50th aniversary decor ;)

The carnotaur does move at both the chase part and the end. I was there 1 month ago and it all was working. There was though a rehab for this ride.

But then again people say the crash effect does not work on Test Track even though I was it work 1 month ago also.

No, the crashing vehicle doesn't work on Test Track--not as it originally worked. It used to come out from behind a barrier and crash into a wall. Now it just has hydrolics that make it strangely bounce up and down--it's odd, but at least it moves.

As far as I know, the only dino that is still stationary is the pterodactyl.

The gold room at the end of wdw's Pirates is not the same as the rooms at the beginning of DL's. DL has that same room at the end, as well, as well as even more show scenes at the end.

Yeah. I know about how the crash effect is different but at least there is one working. Every other time the carjust stood still. But it was working, in a different way, but still working.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news...

But, I just rode Dinoasur twice yesterday...and my group definately agreed the the Carnotaur does not move up along side the Time Rover like it used to...we actually re-rode it just to test this theory...After the first time we all asked each other that question at the same time, and then all immediately got back in line to double check...I was a bit dissapointed...

Of course I was kidding... I'm not that far gone. Although I heard some news from one of those *very credible* sources that the Walt Disney and Mickey statue at the end of main street is being replaced with a great new Eisner statue to complete the transformation. Its the same source that taught us all that Spaceship Earth rotates. Except it left out that Michael Eisner turns it all by himself. And that he's actually a space alien.

When I rode Dinosaur a few months ago in March the first sceen where you encounter the Carnator (at least I think the first scene you meet him), the vehicle's wheels act like you lose traction and the Carnator did move toward the vehicle like it was chasing you.

It did this back in November of 03 when I was there also. Cause that is the only ride at Dinseyworld that always scares the "snot" out of my wife, specifically because it chases you.
