This ride was shown briefly on the DVD that came and I was wondering if it is a rollercoaster or one of those motion simulators or neither. I really couldn't tell.

Dinosaur is an EMV attaction. (* Enhanced Motion Vehicle *) which travels through a building for search of an Iguanidon. ( sp )

Just to give a little more detail on the EMV, the ride is sort of equivalent to a motion simulator that really moves. Confusing? The EMV does move around like a vehicle, on an electronic track system, but the bed pitches, drops, and jerks to simulate riding over rough terrain, sudden turns, sudden accelerations, etc., etc. The motions are coordinated with the action of the scenery and animatronics.

It's not a roller coaster. The vehicle moves under power along a track very similar to Test Track's (though it doesn't go as fast) and has a motion base. If you're familiar with Spider-Man's vehicles at IOA, then think of these as Disney's version. There aren't any real roller coaster type drops, though the ride does toss you around a bit.

Think of the ride vehicles like the simulators in Star Tours, but these don't simply move up and down and side to side in one stationary location. Rather they do these "simulator-type movements" while actually moving forward through the show being.

Really, I think they are quite ingenious and a representation of wonderful Disney imagineering.

The ride is very interesting. Your car moves along a track, while the top part moves around to make it feel like the car is bumping around. You are actually moving in real scenes so it is nothing like a simulator.

Yes, I think it is kind of a "small" roller coaster. The cars move up and down and side to side in a rather jerky fashsion. At first the cars move slow and then speed up as the ride intensifies. At times, the cars stop to give the dinos a better chance to grab a snack (this means you). Guests are seated four across in each row. The first and last guests seated in each row get seats that are on the far left and right of the vehicle (i.e. window seats), while the second and third persons that board the row get seats in the middle. The middle seats don't get as much side to side movement, therefore if you are like me and sometimes sufffer motion sickness, I would go for the middle seats your first ride. After you've ridden it once then you can most likely sit anywhere. I sit anywhere now! :)
