Dinner with Cindy...what to wear?

I am surprising my Daughters 6 and 3 with dinner with Cindy while my husband takes our boys (7 and 1.5) to Casey’s and to ride some things. My questions it how to dress our girls? We have every princess dress in most sizes thanks to hand me downs and yard sales but I know they will be itchy and uncomfortable. I am thinking of getting some things from etsy.com but wanted to know what the other dinner patrons were wearing? I was thinking a custom tee for their favorite Princess with a matching tutu skirt and crown. I have very girly girls who love dresses so that is not a problem it is more the itchy seams and general lack of comfort form a princess gown for hours in a hot park... I am going to do their hair and sparklely faces for the dinner a la BBB but wanted to know about the dress code…
Thanks for your help:)

Dinner with Cindy... you have to wear a princess dress!! What about a light weight cotton tee under the itchy dress? After dinner tug on shorts and stuff the dress in a locker.

We always go with a princess dress and then we bring a tee and pants/shorts for after dinner.

When we were there in December they had costume skirts for the princesses. We bought an Ariel one, of course this December she wants to be Rapunzel.

You'll see other guests in all kinds of various things - but mostly park attire or little girls in Princess dresses. Most people are in the park all day before their dinner, so you'll see people in what they wear to the parks. I totally understand not wanting to put your girls in dresses all day during hot season - it can be miserable for them.

In all my girly baby clothing shopping, I have seen tons of things that look like Disney princess dresses but are actually just cotton & more comfortable. It's like you said, a tee or tank top w/a tutu skirt, but sometimes they are all one piece. I've seen some cute Tink & Princess ones at Walmart, Target, Kohls - places like that. That's what I would do if you want to integrate princesses & comfort. Otherwise, you could just put the dresses on for dinner, and then change afterward.

We did lunch with Cindy back in December...DD4 had just done BBB, so both girls were in princess dresses that we'd bought in the park. DD4 was very comfy in her Cindy dress, but the Ariel dress DD2 picked was itchy around the sleeves...even so...we didn't hear a single complaint. In fact, I nearly had to wrestle them to get off the gowns for nap time and the evening. When we did Akershus, we had them wear shirts that said "everybody loves a princess," but I don't think I would have been happy with those at CRT. I don't know how dressy you want to get and what your pricepoint might be, but if you can find a deal on somebody's Joan Calabrese dress or find something in that style...it would still be very dressy but non-itchy. If you want more whimsical...sites like Little Monkey Toes have super cute things. I'm in love with Jelly the Pug!

We are taking my daughter there for her 7th bday. She will also go the BBB salon first! We are buying her the Cinderella dress from Disney.com. Its her bday gift. I am going to put a tee underneath and have something for her to change into. When I was at the Disney store the other day they have another Cinderella dress that looks quite comfy and much lighter. Its cheaper too!

But most are in there park clothes!

We have decided to let them wear the princess dresses. We are going to take a nap that day so they will only be wearing the gowns for dinner and a few rides that evening. I have the giltter and the rhinestone mouse ear barrettees and am now looking for some crowns to go with thier dresses. I will probally let them wear some lip stick and perfume too...goodness I can't wait...
I am in love with the clothes on ESTY.com custom made for the parks! Would love to have a new one for each day...am just going to get one for this trip though.
No just one more question...I usually wear a cotton sun dress in the parks. Should I change in to the dress I am wearing to our family wedding for dinner?
(we have a family wedding on Saturday in Orlando and then we are spending the week at WDW)
Thanks!

I have found that Disney's princess dresses are not as itchy as they used to be. My DD6 wears them all the time with no complaints about comfort. I would just bring a change (pretty sun dress) just in case.
You could change into your dress if you want, would be nice for pictures with your girls and princesses but you can absolutely get away with wearing appropriate park clothes as well. Enjoy, you can't beat that experience with your little princesses.
