Hi. Heading to the DLR for 4 nights and would like to spread our 4 dinners over DL, DCA, DD and GC. Lifelong WDW lover, but first trip to DLR. My choices thus far are Blue Bayou for DL, Carthay Circle for DCA, Naples or Catal or Ralph Brennan's for DD and Napa Rose for GC. Any thoughts/suggestions on my choices would be great.

If I were you I would skip dinner at Blue Bayou in DL. The dinners tend to be hit and miss...and more on the miss side. Aim for Ralph Brennan's if you want great cajun style food in DD. DLR is incredibly different from WDW...reservations aren't as necessary...the pace is different...SOOOO much more laid back. Try to go with the flow...and not plan quite so much. ;)

Napa Rose is a must. Ralph Brennan's is by far the best restaurant in DTD. Blue Bayou isn't great for food - it's solely for the atmosphere. The food is meh and the prices are ridiculous. If you do book it, get the Fantasmic package - food is the same price and you get reserved seating for DL's superior Fantasmic show.

I'm in the minority but I find Carthay Circle underwhelming and overpriced. Service has sucked the big one every time I've been and the food disappointed.

I love Steakhouse 55. Great prime rib. Carthay Circle WoC dinner is very good as well. I steer away from Blue Bayou these days. To crowded/noisy for the expense.

A great restaurant is the Storytellers Cafe in the Grand Californian Hotel. They have a dinner buffet that gives you a great selection of food. Their corn chowder is amazing. You can also order just entrees but when you see the desserts on the buffet, you'll want the buffet. It's $30 a person, but that's cheaper than Blue Bayou and its an all you can eat buffet, so I think you can get your money's worth there.

French Market (quick service) > Blue Bayou (fine dining)?

Cafe Orleans too - way better food and half the price of Blue Bayou. Disney knows they can pack Bayou regardless of what the food is like - so they've cut back on the quality and jacked up the prices. A very WDW move on their part.

I like Blue Bayou for the atmosphere but I like eating at Café Orleans a little more if I'm going to get monte cristos because Café Orleans is cheaper (and they have pomme frittes).

We love Cafe Orleans for the reasons above! I agree with skipping Blue Bayou. Years ago it was the "can't skip" restaurant, but now it seems overpriced, with good (not great) food. The atmosphere IS wonderful though, so many people still go.

I agree Napa Rose is a must, and if you're lucky enough to get seats at the Chef's Table, which is actually more of a counter facing the open kitchen and must be reserved weeks in advance, you'll get personal service from the Executive Chef Andrew Stanton and really really amazing food. His former sous chef got promoted to run Carthay Circle and so IMHO the food there is also quite good plus I love walking through the hallways and seeing all the classic photos from Hollywood's golden era.

I also agree that Blue Bayou is not really worth it - food is overpriced for the quality and they rush you along to flip your table - but the atmosphere is special so I wouldn't fault you for still wanting to go. However, if I were you I'd get some clam chowder in a bread bowl or a lobster roll from the harbor galley instead and use the money you saved by not eating at BB on wine at Napa Rose. ; )

Bon Appetite!
