Dining Requests

I have always read about people requesting certain areas, tables, etc. to be seated at. Do the host/hostess really make a effort to fill these requests? Does it help to have advanced reservations when making requests? I imagine some restaurants are easier to accommodate the requests than others are but I have a few places picked for our next trip and wondered about the subject. Thanks in advance for the help.

It depends where you are going and what you are asking for. If you have an 8:30 ADR for R&C or CG and want a seat with a view of the fireworks they will tell you that it is really just luck of the draw as every patron in the restaurant wants those seats. On the flip side if you want a seat at the appetizer bar at Jiko or for a particular server at 50's Prime Time or WCC they will make every effort to make that happen.

Those should not be to difficult. If you get there a little before your ADR time and are willing to be patient and wait for a particular table it should not be to hard. Of course if you trip is during peak season or during a free dinning promotion and the resturants are booked solid it could be a little more difficult.

Does anybody know of any preferable seating locations at Liberty Tree or Brown Derby? I've been to Liberty Tree but it was some time ago and I have never been to Brown Derby.

I think those restaurants give you basically the same experience regardless of where you sit.

So can you actually requests specific tables...in reading the reveiws for Yak & Yeti, there is a review stating a particular table number to request?!? How in the world do you know table numbers?

Thanks so far for the input. I just know we have dined at several restaurants on past trips that definitely have areas/tables that would make the dining experience a little bit more memorable.

Specific table number would be quite hard for them to do. Aside from knowing someone that works there there is no way what number a table is. Even if you did know the table number they will not specifically reserve it for you on your ADR. Your best bet is to request a particular area when you check in at the restaurant and let the chips fall where they may. If you must have a specific table count on waiting for quite a while past your ADR time unless the table you wast clears shortly after you arrive.

My luck on requesting a specific table would result in a changing of the table numbering system the week before I arrive; I'd end up sitting next to the bathrooms. I think I'll just stick to a "area" request.

We have no means to list this information on your dine reservation. Remember, we are booking only a table size, not a specific table. Part of our required spiel is "when you arrive, you will be seated at the first table available for your party size, any request for window seating, etc. must be made at the podium once you check-in."

Thanks for the additional info. Yeah, I have always considered the dining requests similar to the resort preference requests...wait till you get there to request them. We have already booked all of our advanced reservations and I just knew a couple of the restaurants we are dining at this trip have some preferred seating (at least for my family). We are eating at: Liberty Tree, LeCellier, San Angel Inn, Yak & Yeti and The Brown Derby. Trip date is May 17th through 25th (memorial day is 26th), hopefully the crowds won't be too bad through the first half of the trip which is when the majority of our AR's were made for.

I asked for a window table at Chefs De France this past Saturday and it was granted, and very quickly I might add. I was shocked at how quickly my name was called after I had made a special request for seating... it was only about 5 minutes! Maybe it was luck of the draw and it would have been my table anyway, who knows, but they were very nice about it
