I am an annual passholder and will occasionally go down for the day or to spend the night. Can I be elgible for the dining plan? If so, how do I do it?

Yes and No...

You can certainly get the dining plan- but you must purchase a hotel and ticket package - you only have to get a one day ticket to be eligible for the dining plan (which is based on the number of nights you spend at the hotel not the number of days you purchase the ticket for) However once you count in the $60 per person for the one day ticket... the dining plan loses some of it's saving benefits - especially since you're an annual passholder...

However, there is another alternative to saving $$ on dining - AP holders can purchase a disney dining card for $75 (I'll have to double check that price but I'm pretty sure that's right) which is good for a year - and saves you 20% on nearly all the restaurants in WDW...

This can certainly pay for itself very quickly!

Hope this info helped a little!

Since you are an AP holder....I'd suggest the Disney Dining Experience Card.

I don't think that's how it works....when you get the plan...you have to get it for every person and every day of your stay. If you're only buying a single day ticket...I don't think that will give you the plan for you're entire stay...maybe I'm wrong.

The DDE is currently $60.00 (less is always better than more :animwink: ) for one, additional $25.00 for a second for spouse or partner. Their policies and prices changed this year. We just got ours a few weeks ago and it is definitely worth every penny. We saved our initial investment within the first three/four days - unbelievable.

I had checked on this recently... The dining plan has to be for each person for each day of your WDW resort stay... but the #of ticket days do not need to match. So that you can get less # of days on your tickets than your room days.

You cannot get the dining plan on a room booked with an AP discount, however. You either have to pay full rack rate (or use one of the general public specials) or else give up the dining plan. With what I save on my room plus the DDE card it's fine with me to not get the dining plan.

There are rumors that in the near future AP reservations will qualify for the dining plan, hopefully that will turn out to be true!

Thanks for saying that. I have been so wishy-washy about this. I have what I think is a good rate for the contemporary using the AP discount, but I really wanted the dining plan. I have been trying to convince myself that using the DDE/AP route will work just fine. Just one question though. If I have already paid for my Cinderella ressies, can I get a refund on the DDE discount?

What you need to do in this situation is to call WDW-DINE with your Castle Reservation No. and your DDE Card No. They will modify the reservation and make an adjustment for the 20% and refund the discounted amount to your credit card. Very simple to do, but you must have the DDE Card in hand in order to do this. You have plenty of time to make the adjustment, as long as you do it before you arrive. Hope this helps you.

Does Cindy's take the DDE? I thought it didn't.

Also, mild warning for DDE - any operating participant can decide not to honor the card. This covers most places in Epcot, but that rarely happens. Saw it happen at Mitsukoshi once though, and the couple was upset - so being a CM at the time I trumped the manager on duty and got them my discount. He wasn't gonna give them DDE (even though it was a particpating place). So, keep that in mind, buy what you can afford and then enjoy the discount afterwards :)

Cinderella's is on my list, but Mitsukoshi is not. When you get the DDE Card, they give you a list of participating locations. I found it was just best to ask everywhere before we ordered. It didn't make a difference as to what we were going to get, it was just a nice bonus when the check came. Plus I didn't come across anyone who wasn't familiar with the card either, which was surprising. But the best way to approach this is - if in doubt, ask. That is never a bad idea.

Thanks, I'll get right on it. We paid $203, so that will save us 40 bucks, almost pays for the DDE itself. I sure do hope the experience is worth it. I have been to disney over 20 times and I've only been there once when I was a wee-little one so I don't remember it.

Psss......If you want ressies for dinner, they have some open because the CM said that alot of people don't know about the changes yet. (I made mine 43 days out and I had choices of time)

Darn, thats a little late for me....oh well.

As I was trying to make my reservations, I was told that they are also considering the dining plan for room-only reservations. Due to so many requests.

If you really want the dining plan, just buy a 1-day hopper. Then add the dining plan for the length of your on-site stay. We did that in Jan06, and I'll tell ya, we still saved a bunch of money.
