My (2 months pregnant) wife and our two kids (ages 1,2) and I, will be going to WDW April 21-28, is it worth more than 500 dollars to add the dining plan? MY Wife and I went in 2003 and we never spent more than 100 dollars a day on Food and Souvenirs. Just asking others opinion on this, Thanks!!!!

Ok, we have used the DP on our last trip in Dec. But we are going back in August with a GG of nearly 40 ...girl scout troop. 'My' girls have asked me if they can get milk shakes as their drink. I said I don't know, no one tried that on our last trip. So I am asking the all knowing magic group...do milk shakes count as your drink at sit down places like 50s Prime Time or Sci-Fi? Or can you get them w/your meal and let it be your dessert? Thanks for any info!

At the Whispering Canyon in WL, we were told that we could get the (delicious) bottomless milkshakes as our drink. That place is an example of a restaurant where you can eat way too much on the DDP. Each of us ordered a milkshake, appetizer nachos and entree. The appetizer nachos were like a meal. After those, and a milkshake (or 2), we picked away at our main meal for a half hour. When the cheerful waitress asked if we were ready for desert, we were just a bit too full. :-) Gotta love the DDP.

BTW, when I arrived at WDW, I was 180lbs. in a somewhat athletic body. When I left 10 days later, I was 190 lbs. in a slightly less atheletic body. Again, gotta love the DDP.:)

Dining plan works great..

I was there this past weekend for 2 nights on the Basic plan...$plan cost about $240.00(w/tax)

I spent $72 for lunch on the counter service
I spent $32 on the snacks
I spent $320 on the sit down meals.

this was before tips (plan pays 10%) for the sit down meals

I say do the plan!!!!

With the base plan The Castle and Hoop De Doo will take 2 sit down vouchers per person.

Other than that...do the plan.

now have fun making all those reservations! this is the main reason i get the dp, i want to have at least one sit down dinner and not worry about the prices of the meals, plus i love to try out new restaurants, dinner shows, and character meals, that i would not do if not on the dp.

When we used the plan in December 2006, they gave an 18% tip for the sit down meals. It's printed on the receipt. Is the 10% on the buffet meals?
Anyway, it doesn't matter to me because we saved aver $700 on our 10 night trip with 2 adults, 1 junior (counted as adult) and 2 children. I love Disney dining, with or without the plan.
As Stacy would say: "Yummy, yummy, yummy...":slurp:

The meal plan is a good deal. However, the biggest question that you need to ask is how your kids do in restaurants. Are your babies going to eat a table service meal every day??? We found that our kids eat better in the stroller or in the room.
