Dining Plan with Wine

Dining Plan with Wine is part of the DDP in 2008. Therefore nobody has had the opportunity to try it out yet. The new year does start soon so hopefully this question can be answered shortly.

Add on question: Do you have to drink the wine that day or could you save the bottle and then take them home with you? I ask because my DH is the only one to drink wine in our immediate family and he can't see spending $40 on a bottle of wine that he wouldn't finish that day. Whereas he can bring the bottles home and bring them to family get togethers. I hope these answers can get answered soon.

So the wine and dine package is new and never existed in 2007?

As for the second question yes you can save it and bring it home. If you have one at dinner you can't take them out as they were opened, but you can get closed bottles sent to your room.

I don't know if it never has been offered, but as of the new DDP that starts today it is an additional option you can add on. It costs an additional $40 a day on top of whatever DP you choose.

Ok, gotcha. We have it added to our package, when you said nobody had the opportunity to try it out yet I thought you were saying it didn't exist in '07 and was a new feature added for '08.

I'm confused (don't worry that is easy to do :ROFLOL:). Do you have just the DDP or the DDP with the Wine addition? If you have the wine addition when do you head to WDW? My husband is interested in getting it as well, but only if he can find out what types of wine you can get before hand. He doesn't want to spend $40 for a bottle of wine that doesn't cost that much or is worth that much either. Please let us know what the wine lists are if you can.

Yes we have the DDP with wine and dine added on. We don't go until June/July for our honeymoon but we will be going back to our travel agent this coming weekend to plan the dinners, shows, etc... since we are now within 180 days and able to make reservation. I will ask her this weekend if she knows the wine lists.

The link below is a 2008 Wine and Dine brochure(in PDF form). It gives you some information about the plan/wine and also the locations that participate in this plan. If you know a few of the restaurants you will be eating at maybe you should give them a call and ask them what wines are available for the wine and dine plan. I'll keep you posted if I find out this weekend.

No offense, but does anyone really spend $40 a day on wine/alchohol?

Considering 1 bottle of wine can cost much more than $40, it is very possible. We usually buy a bottle of wine with dinner and we've paid as much as $100 for the bottle. There were others on the list MUCH more expensive than that.

Also, you are able to take even an opened bottle of wine back to your room. We had no problems doing this on our last visit in December. Every restaurant we went to would just recork it and package it up for us.

It's for our honeymoon and my fiance only drinks wine when it comes to alcohol...so we figured we'd go for it and add the wine and dine. You'll definitely save money as long as you redeem all your credits/entitlements to the wine bottles. We may not drink wine every night but we do plan on redeeming all the credits for them, so we will just bring some bottles home.

Glad to hear that you can bring an opened bottle back to the room, our travel agent was unaware of this. Thanks for that information TwoTigersMom!

I wouldn't spend that much because I don't like wine, but my husband loves wine. Since he would not be interested in any other types of souvinears this might be the way we go for him. Considering the length of our trip we might not end up doing this, but in case we do he won't be opening up the bottles then, they will be shipped home for his enjoyment here.

I know there are a number of ways people can spend their money that others would be shocked about. But as long as the person paying for it doesn't mind then it shouldn't matter what the price is.

Anyone have a chance to check out the wine lists yet?

Will be in contact this week with our Disney rep who is handling all our dinner reservations, shows, etc... So I will run the question by him and see if he has a list of wines available on the wine and dine plan.
