Dining plan question

If you used the dining plan for a family of three (2 adults, 1 child (5)) and wanted to save some table meals for character meals. Can you use the adults meals and pay for the child meal and save those credits and use them for adult credits later? Does the plan determine whether it is a child or adult meals?

Can anyone help?
Thanks

As of 2007 they distinguish between Adult and Child credits on DDP. So, although you could get away with that last year [and CMs often encouraged it], you have to use child credits for children's meals now.

Sorry :(

We saved credits for Cinderella's Royal Table & for the Fantasmic dinner package by splitting meals. One adult meal was usually enough for both of us adults, and one kid's meal was enough for the 2 kids. (You can't use 1 credit for 2 people at buffets of course.)

We get to Disney late the day we arrive, so we save that sit down dinner meal and just eat the counter service if we haven't already ate by the time we get there which is a big liklihood. Then we go offsite with the car to USO/SW 2 days and save those as well(still staying/sleeping at Disney resort though). Then we use those missed meals for the 2 tickets required and will eat with Cinderella at the castle one day, Micky at the contemporary another, and also see the whoop de doo show one night. It works out pretty good and we don't pay for anything other than eating when offsite. We also then have the extra 2 counter service meals to use up during the week if someone gets extra hungry or can get a breakfast with them, and we also have the extra snack tickets which I have a feeling will go quick lol.

Why not just book character meals as your table service meal of the day. They are no longer 2 credits (except for Cinderella's Royal Table). Last July we stayed 5 nights on the dining plan. We ate at CRT breakfast (2 credits), Donald's breakfast, Garden Grill dinner, Crystal Palace dinner, and Rainforest Cafe dinner (out of pocket). If you book a late breakfast, you will not want any lunch, just eat an early counter service dinner.

There was so much food we didn't need to save any credits-we were stuffed with what we had.
