Dining Plan Meal Swapping

In general, if you are on the dining plan and you find that you'll more likely eat at quick-service places than table service, are you permitted to use the table-service credits in a quick-service place? I saw an update on the main WDWMagic page saying that if you do that you'll get a certificate for some snack credits or something like that.

But normally can you change out meal credits?

Well if you're more likely to eat at quick service places, then it's not even worth being on the dining plan. The dining plan only saves money if you'd eat at a sit down meal every day normally.

We got the Dining Plan thrown on for free, so it's not like we're losing anything from our pockets either way.

we were told that the concierge desk at your hotel could convert the Table service credits to counter service credits (as a straight trade, one for one.) Had to get it done at the hotel, the restaurant cash register/computer couldn't handle the change.

That said, during Free Dining last year, they had a shortage of table service seating, and no walk-in availability. So people with the Dining Plan couldn't get Table Service without prior reservations. To accomodate those without reservations, people were given a CS and some bonus item (like pin lanyard) in exchange for TS credits in the parks.
