Dining Plan Help!

Here's the story:

My friends and I are planning a trip to wdw for Halloween. We want to get the free dining plan that's offered. Here's the question: two or cast members and don't need tickets to the park.

If we forgo the cast member discount on the hotel room can we book online for two people, and then call to add two more to just the hotel and dining plan?

Short answer: No. All Guests need to be on the same package for a reservation.

You don't have to all get tickets for the full vacation, though. You could just get 1-day Base MYW tickets as part of your Free Dining reservation, and then upgrade the tickets that need more days after you check in. The CMs who are left with 1-day tickets they won't use can either save them for another trip after they're no longer CMs, or give them to friends and family to use.

But now you have to do some calculations, and see if it's cheaper to keep the CM room discount and pay for your food, or to book Free Dining, even if you have to purchase un-necessary tickets.

I was a bit confused about that when I read it in the details. If we purchase only a 1 day park ticket and stay for 4 days 3 nights, do we get the dining plan for the 4 days, or just the 1 day ticket?

Dining plan is based on nights stayed not ticket days. A one-day base ticket each is the minimum ticket requirement. All staying in the room have to get the same package, but once you're there individuals can upgrade their tickets to whatever they need. So if the CMs already have admissions, they can save the one-day base ticket to use when they're no longer getting in as CMs, the rest of you can increase the number of days on the ticket and add hopper or water parks and more...
