:mad:We have been down here since Nov 24th 2 reservations (split res) half was on dining plan half not. Getting a table for without ADRS while saying you are on dining plan is impossible, although 3 times when asked if on Dining plan and we said yes they asked do you have reservations? We said no they said Im sorry, I then said we would pay cash and 3 times they found room for us.

I find this to be strange, Could they be trying to turn away people with Dining plan and no ADRs so they can not use all there credits? Therefore Disney makes more money?????

Just my thoughts.

:confused:As for The DDE adding gratuity in January, talked to a CR Bartender about this, Disney adds the gratuity and the cast members don't recieve it for a week (until there next check) Disney makes huge interest by keeping the cast members tip in there account for a week. (This is what was said to us by the bartender himself) The union fought to have the tip removed from DDP and Disney added it to the DDE so they could still make money on interest for the tips they keep in there account for a week. The bartender said someone figured it was over 600,000 in tips per week. (Imagine the interest on that?)

:hurl:The Yaughtsmens Galley, TERRIBLE we arrived 1:34 for lunch sat until 1:45 until we were noticed then ordered drinks which came at 2:05 then waited 15 minutes for check as waiter vanished, when we left we had to wait in line for the manager to complain as there were 3 people in front of us complaining.

:shrug:Beach Club Bar has removed most appetizers, no real wings anymore all you can get is nuggets and nachos (same nuggets they give to the kids at Cape May buffet except they pour hot sauce on it)

:shrug:Beaches and Cream, if the bar stool area is wide open you can't just sit there they assign it to you, we asked if we could walk up as all seats were open but had to wait. Seems ridiculous to me this happend twice, it was however quicker than waiting for a table though.

:sohappy:Cape Mays Buffet AWESOME best mussels I ever had. Walk up service in about 15 - 30 minutes , best time 8:30 buffet to yourself at that time.

It's not a matter of being "busy". I'm the last person to criticize a meal at Disney, but the service these days is seriously awful. The servers are so used to the auto-tips most of them don't even try anymore.

Most of my meals (which I paid well over $100 for) I spent just sitting around waiting for drinks/food/check/ANYTHING. It was a huge turn-off and I will definitely decrease the number of full service meals I do in the future.

To be honest at The Yaughtsmans Galley it wasnt busy at all there appeared to be a whole bunch of servers just going through the motions, very lackluster. We used our DDE discount, not the Dining plan and still service was TERRIBLE. This is the first time in my life I only left 1.00 for a tip, next year on DDE I'll be forced to leave 18% I can well imagine how long the line will be for the manager, (complaints etc)

I stand behind what I have said many times in the past, THE DINING PLAN HAS RUINED DINING IN DISNEY! Service food and selection are much worse, almost all rsturants offer the same items they just call it something different......

Uh...It's the Yacht Club Galley. Not the "Yaughtsmans". There's the Yacht Club Galley and the YACHTSMAN Steakhouse.

Thank you for correcting me Perhaps you will understand this as I may have made a mistake in the name,

Admittedly though, your original use of names was confusing as to which restaurant you were actually complaining about...

Agreed. Not only is it impossible to get ADRs anywhere (and forget about a walk-in) unless you call the full 180 in advance, but the service seems to have gone down. And I anticipate it becoming worse with the new auto-tipping. The only non-counter service/food cart place I've been recently that I was NOT disappointed with was the Outer Rim Lounge, the bar in the Contemporary. As a local, it's hard to decide 180 days in advance where you might want to eat, but we haven't been able to get ANYTHING even within 30 or 45 days, and I haven't been able to walk up anywhere but Concourse Steakhouse in almost a year. Ooh, wait, I lie. I happened upon an opening for two for lunch at Le Cellier a few months ago.

At this point, unless I have family visiting (we usually try to book one character meal) we'll be eating churros or off-site for dinner.

I would assume they hold tips that are put on credit cards and room charges for the next pay check anyway, so it probably wouldn't make much difference. We always carry minimal cash with us and charge tips when we haven't been on DDP.

I wonder if the same people who would complain about WDC making money off of interest for a week don't also put lower withholdings on their W-4 so they can get a larger tax refund. Ignoring the fact the government gets all that interest over a year.

Since this thread reminds me of the way my 4 and 6 year olds bicker, I'll say what I say to them, "Play nicely or get away from each other until you can behave."

How many more days will you all spend fighting and whining over who spells better?

Honestly? I was just trying to correct the fact that the OP combined 2 different restaurants and then spelled them incorrectly. For someone who has never been to Disney or that restaurant in general, there needs to be no confusion. Long story short, it's like when people go to City Hall and complain that they couldn't get a meet and greet with Goofy, when they're actually complaining about Pluto. I'm just trying to get the facts straight.

I'm actually interested in the topic of the origianl post which is why I keep checking this thread. But instead of info, I keep seeing this bickering. So I'm not going to check this thread anymore.
Here is how I see this silly little argument.....the "Uh" at the beginning of your comment did make it sound a bit condescending, which is my guess as to why the OP got upset. However, the OP COMPLETELY overreacted with an immature reply. So you both were wrong. Now one of you needs to decide to be the more mature one and just let it go by not continuing to post petty remarks back to the other one. There.....settled.

Agreed. Not only is it impossible to get ADRs anywhere (and forget about a walk-in) unless you call the full 180 in advance,

We were there last week. Went to SSR guest relations Monday morning and asked for dinner at Chefs de France for two people for the next evening at 5:30pm. Got 5:40 no problem.

That night (Monday), five of us met at 6pm and decided to go to Artist's Point. We phoned from the car - nothing. Showed up - were seated in 20 minutes. We were at what was essentially a table for four, which is probably why the reservation system wouldn't take five.

Also at the SSR guest relations, I asked for Citricos for two for Wednesday night. She could not do it. She said the restaurant looked pretty empty but the computer would not let her make a reservation for two. She said if we showed up we'd have no trouble getting in. As it is, we changed plans.

I don't think booking 180 days out is always necessary.

I've heard this before. Are you talking about quickie places or sitdowns? If sitdowns, could you please give examples of similar dishes. I don't doubt it, I'm just curious. I can't tell from reading menus. Are the French place and Citricos serving similar things with different names, for example? Is that what you mean? I did notice that every place seems to serve a chicken Caesar sandwich now. And every fast food place has apple slices.

We just got back and I could not disagree more about service quality. Night 1 was Citrico's and Malik and the other gentleman assisting him were fantastic. Night 2 at the California Grill was also exceptional servicewise. Night 3 at Boma was fair, but it's a buffet. If they keep your drink glass full, that's all that's required. Le Cellier (which was a letdown after nights 1 and 2) the service was only very good.

I actually spoke to a young lady who said she called every day for three months to get the Cinderella Breakfast to no avail. She walked up and was seated in about half an hour. I suspect that they only set aside a certain percentage (85%?) for ADR's. On the flip side, with our hard fought adr's, we were seated in no more than 10 minutes each time.

Service depends on customers too I suppose. I'm not terribly demanding. We ate at Artist's Point last week and my two tablemates asked that their mushroom soup be taken back because it was cold. I had the soup too and it was hot enough for me. This of course messed up the timing with our entrees as by the time the soup came back and was half-eaten the entrees came up. (And it was odd for me because I was eating soup alone).

Also, one table mate told the server beforehand that she would not except her fish unless it was HOT! The server asked her about it while eating and my friend said that it was acceptable. (it wasn't as hot as she wanted but she didn't want the hassle of taking it back). I'm not big on food being super-hot, but I know people who are and they are routinely frustrated in restaurants.

All this soup coming and going was demanding on the server, but I thought she did a nice job with it. There were a couple of times when I could tell she was confused by the demands from my table, but even I didn't know what my friends wanted. Again, she handled it okay I thought.
