Dining Plan Credits Question

After reading a few topics here on the boards, I was wondering how the credits work.

From my understanding the dining plan is attached to the room and not individuals. So my question is; how does this work if one person wants to eat in Epcot in Japan and another wants to eat their QS in Mexico. Would that take two QS credits or would it still count as one? Completely confused. Or like at Cosmic Rays with the three bays?

Also, we are traveling with a 4 year old. It says that she will have to eat from kids menus where available. Does that mean she would eat off the adult menu then?

Thank you!!

Your credits are in one pool based on your room reservations, but the actual number of credits you get is like this:

Daily credit entitlement x Number of nights on room reservation x Number of guests (aged 3+) staying in room.

Does that make sense? So 4 people staying six nights on the standard dining plan would have a pool of 24 table service credits, 24 counter service credits, and 24 snack credits to use throughout the trip. Each individual meal/snack you buy will cost one credit, aside from signature restaurants, which use two table service credits.

Ok..First I had to check where your from.?:inlove:..Good..Your from the good old USA...No your DDP is not attached to your room..Each person has a KTWC where your credits are stored..To be honest I would suggest you start your homework now and get studying..The Dining Plan isn't exactly rocket science and is easy to understand..Read read and do more reading..;)

She'll eat from children's menus pretty much everywhere. I can't think of any restaurants that accept the dining plan that do not offer a children's menu these days. The exception will be snack credits, as there is no designation of adult vs. child snacks. I suppose there may be one or two counter service eateries that don't have a children's menu (though I can't think of any), and in those cases, yes, she would be entitled to use her counter service credit toward an adult meal.

Yes your 4 year old will have to eat of the kids meals but if you go to a buffet they can eat pretty much what ever they want. I know my 11 year old daughter is so excited she won't have to eat chicken nuggets every day since she falls under the adult plan. The children's choices are pretty bad in my opinion.

All the credits are pooled together. Children off the child's menu and so on. You can use as many as you want in a day but when they're gone they're gone.

The DDP can take some "getting used to," but by the end of your trip, you will most likely be pros!

First off, whoever is on the reservation MUST participate in the DDP...it's all or none. For every person on the resort reservation, he/she will receive a KTTW card which has your DDP credits attached.

Second, as others have stated, the DDP "credits" are calculated as such (using the QS plan as an example):
5 night reservation x 3 guests on reservation x 2 QS/day = 30 QS meals TOTAL for that reservation
AND
5 night reservation x 3 guests x 1 snack/day = 15 snacks TOTAL for that reservation.

Third, it doesn't matter who swipes their card, or when, to "pay" for a meal, because every credit is pooled together per reservation. For every swipe of your KTTW card, a credit will be deducted from the running TOTAL from its respective category (i.e. TS, QS, or snack).
-On the bottom of your receipt, you will notice "____ QS MEALS REMAINING" or "_____ SNACKS REMAINING.," etc.. (During the day, I like to keep ALL DDP receipts to make sure everything adds up...i.e. wasn't overcharged or undercharged for anything. At the end of each day, I keep the most recent receipts and then toss out the rest. It's easier than keeping a "DDP log book.")
-This also means, Disney does not differentiate between "adult" & "kids" meals redeemed...they already have your money. "Yes," Disney stipulates that your child should order off the kids menu if available (especially enforced at sit-down meals), and that anyone not on your reservation may not partake in one of your DDP credits...once again, Disney already has your money. On my most recent trip to WDW, we had too many QS meals remaining that my family and I could not get thru without having to pop TUMS for a week, so I treated perfect strangers to 11 QS meals!

Fourth, as the above poster mentioned: it doesn't matter how many credits you use in a day. For example, you could "use" 5 snack credits in one day & decide to use none the next day.

Lastly, know what each "credit" gets you:
-TS: entree, drink, & dessert OR buffet & drink
-QS: combo meal or entree, drink, & dessert (at breakfast, in lieu of dessert, add OJ or coffee)
-SNACK: pretty self explanatory...just look for the "DDP" logo & try to use said credit on items $4 or more to really get your monies worth.

Remember, you can always stop down at the front desk to inquire about how the DDP works and you can also inquire into how many DDP credits you have remaining (in fact, they'll give you a print out).

I hope this helps, even just a little!
