Hi y'all ...
I am wondering how both of these work?
We always stay at the resorts..and usually spend more $ on food than we do on the rooms (ok well maybe not that much but it seems like it)
We have a 21 month old and will be taking her to Disney for her 2nd Bday...and we are trying to get all the inside scoop we can before going on this trip.
If someone could help I would be so greatful !! :slurp: *MMMM FOOD*

THANKS :)

Hi! Welcome!

The 'free dining' is only offered during the end of August (I think August 13th) through September 30th stays. And it must be booked by 6/4/06.

All other times, you have to pay for the dining plan... I think it is $37.99 per night stay for adults and $10.99 for kids over age 2-9. No charge for under 2 years old. It can only be booked with a Magic Your Way package (room & tickets packaged together) and I think some DVC members are eligible too... I am not sure about that. But in other words, you cannot stay offsite and get the dining plan. And you have to purchase at least a one day base ticket for each person to be eligible for the plan.

The dining plan includes one table service, one counter service, and one snack per day. The table & counter services include non-alcoholic beverage, one appetizer, one entree, and dessert. The price includes an 18% gratuity and taxes. Most participating restaurants allow most items on their menus under the plan ... the restaurant will tell you when you get there if there are any restrictions. You can view their menus at allearsnet.com.

Some restaurants and dinner shows require you to use two table service credits as opposed to the normal one credit. At the disneyworld.com website there is a 'dining finder' option that will give you more info.

Happy dining!

The way the plan works (as I understand it) is that you must purchase the plan for everyone 3 and up staying in the room. While there is no charge for your 2 year old under the plan, they will not get free food (unless you purchase the plan for them too). You can, however share your food with them. On our last trip we bought the plan for ourselves and 5 year old daughter. Our 20 month old shared meals with my wife or my older daughter. You get a lot of food so sharing wasn't a problem.

THANKS !!
Do you know if SOG is included in the meal plan?

As far as the "free" plan .... is there a fee or just staying at the resorts is all you have to do?

Are all resturaunts included in these plans too...

*how long has this been around* ... LOL Cause I think THIS should be the best kept secret .... Heehee

I guess because of us getting our park hopper passes and me booking on the phone for reservations I never knew about these meal deals...I wish they would have told me on the phone when calling .... This would have been a must :)

THANKS SO MUCH for the answers and info...!!

SoG meaning Shades of Green? Their restaurants are not included in the dining plan. Nor can you purchase the plan if you are a guest at Shades of Green. The dining plan is only available to guests staying at a Disney-owned resort (meaning the Swan and Dolphin are excluded as well.)

I just read that earlier on the allears site...But I did see that there is a Florida resident/annual passholder plan too .. :) AAAHHH having a FL residence is great!!
Who knows where we will stay...we have many more to mark off of our list of resorts to stay ... hmmmm could be an interesting trip.

Just be careful with character meals for the 2 year old. The oldest's 2 yr. old bday HATED the characters. Youngest LOVED the characters on her 2 yr old bday, but hated the face characters. Both daughters. Oldest loved the face characters, but was scared of costume ones. Youngest loved the costumed ones, but couldn't bridge the gap between the animated princesses and the "live action" princesses. So be aware that you may need to adjust reservations if there is a bad reaction. Also, book early dinners, a two year old may not have much patience for late ones... and late lunches always seemed to fall during nap time.

The AP/APFL Resident Plan for dining is that you are able to buy the Disney Dining Card for $60 which gets you 20% off the price of your meals at most sit down restaurants.
