Dining Plan Additions

This is great news! For me anyhow. Thanks for posting.

I've always wanted to try more of the DTD restaurants but usually don't, as we usually use the dining plan.

Sweet!

Interesting that they've changed how they present the different restaurants. Now the QS, TS and Signature restaurants are separated.

They also have a blue and white "B"s to indicate buffets, but there's nowhere that says that's what it means.

I totally agree, DDP options were very thin on the ground at DTD, this gives us much more choice. Our dining reservations look like having yet another overhaul though!! Back to the drawing board.

No teppanedo??? Are they ever on the DDP? Is this list now finalized, meaning anything not on the list at this point is not going to be added later?

Great ... they can now ruin more favorites of mine like Fulton's and Bistro.

Terrible.
I wonder how they were able to add Fulton and Bistro unless those places are seeing a decline in traffic. I love Fulton but haven't been since removed from the DDP back in 2005. I have free dining in March so I might have to replace them with another sig dinning. Sig dining is the only places I haven't seen a decline in quality food. Maybe it cost two credits.

Thanks for posting as I would have missed this as I don't expect additions to the plan.

Glad to see some DTD restaurants added to the list. I always hated that they weren't on there when I was planning my itinerary. I always wind up heading to a resort when I'd really rather just in DTD.

I see that you are passionate about this. Let's make a deal. If you send me a cheque for $200.00 I'll promise to never use dining plan credits for Fulton's or Bistro.

While Fulton's never impressed us, I agree. At least we still have V&A's and the Swan and Dolphin restaurants that will remain untainted by the DDP virus .... for now.

I'm excited about this. Like...jumped up outta my chair in my office and fist pumped in excitement! :sohappy:

I always enjoyed Rainforest Cafe and always wanted to try Fultons. I've had my eye on Portobellos as well! But I've had DDP pins for 2 of my last trips so we've stayed away from non DDP places. But watch out Flying Dragon pizza at RC - I'm coming for ya!!

The more restaurants the better in my opinion because that way more people will be dispersed throughout all restaurants.

Happy to see the T-Rex cafe on the list. I've been using the DDP for the last 5 years but have gone to T-Rex the past two and paid out of pocket. This is a good move that alot of families on the DDP will now get to enjoy!

Yes that was one of the differences when the plan changed in 2005. Many Restaurants removed themselves. The other difference was non restaurant options were removed. This made restaurants on the plan more crowded.

I am not much of a seafood eater, but have always loved Fulton's. First, they have the best burger on Disney property on the lunch menu, which was an absolute steal until about 18 months ago when they had a price increase (it came with cheese and bacon and the BEST homemade chips I have ever had) for $8.99 (before a 20% AP discount). I think it's now like $11.99 (still worth it). They also have other excellent choices. And you never have to make a ressie to dine there.

V&A's will always be a very special dining place (because of food, ambience and cost). They'll never place it on the dining plan because the chef would quit.

But there are much smarter choices to eat at at Swan, Dolphin, DD, WA ... and certainly off-property. No visit to O-Town goes by without me dining at Emeril's Tchoup Choup at the Royal Pacific. Amazing food, service, atmosphere and, generally, a higher caliber of guests too. :xmas:

The restaurants are given the option to participate in the plan or not. They must have felt it was worth it to be part of it this year.

I can tell you from speaking with several non-Disney owned locales on WDW property that the Mouse does a lot of 'strong arming' to get these places on the Plan ... and every manager I've talked with says that it leads to a lower quality experience in their units because the DDP people want in quickly, fed quickly and back out again.

I wish non of them would include their locations and let Disney sink or swim on its own.:xmas:

Now that I'm finally going to get to try a few new places, I just hope the menus dont get cut in half as far as choices go. Thats the only major issue I have with the dining plan.

I haven't seen the Signature dining get water down or cut in half. So with these being 2 credits, there is hope.

Really, I have completely seen this at the higher end locations.... In a recent trip, the offerings at places like Narcoosee's, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Flying Fish were remarkably similar, in terms of what was offered, the amount of selections, and the ridiculous prices.

Still, they are better than the regular dining locations, but you'd go broke if you ate at too many of them in a trip.
