dining in epcot

We'll be there in three weeks, too. Unfortunately, I think we're in the take-what-you-can-get phase for ADRs. I've had mine planned for months, but I'm trying to add one for the Garden Grill (long story), which has always seemed to be one of the emptier ones on our previous trips and from online reviews. No dice. I'm just checking several times a day and hoping something opens up.

Don't cancel what you've got until you've got something else lined up. I hate for you to end up with nothing.

I've only had excellent experiences with the food at Coral Reef.
Il Mulino was a great meal.
So was Biergarten....and fun to boot.
I think Marrakesh is underrated but the atmosphere/noise may be too much for some.
Chefs de France and Rose and Crown should be dined at with caution: not too many cheese dishes in France and not too many sausage dishes in England. I ended up with poor experiences at both due to poor menu selections.
San Angel Inn is one of the best ambiences in all of DW in my opinion. It's a shame the food is mediocre. It's worth skipping(unless the overhaul of the menu has done wonders?)
Only did Le Cellier for lunch. Wasn't a memorable lunch.
Only did Garden Grill for lunch...back when they offered lunch. Don't think I'd try for dinner but hope they bring back lunch some day.
Akershus a good breakfast character spot.
Never ate at Japan or China but we'll be dining at Teppan Edo this December.

I have a similar question, so I thought this thread was appropriate...

How difficult is it to walk-up to some of the restaraunts in Epcot in late May? I know LeCelier is impossible...but I'm mainly looking at Tokyo Dining, Via Napoli, or the new Mexican TS. We have several ADR's for our week there, but I hate being tied down to one or two reservations everyday and thought about taking my chances with a few walk-ups (party of 5). We do not have any ADR's for our Epcot day and would like to have the option of a table service meal there.

We also do not have any ADR's for our day at HS...so any imput on the feasibility of a walk-up @ Prime Time would be appreciated as well.

(We have our CRT, 'Ohana, Crystal Palace, and Tusker House b'fast ADR's booked....I know those are impossilbe last minute additions).
I don't know about late May, but I've been early to mid-June and have had successful walk ups at Nine Dragons and Restaurant Marrakesh, both were very good. I really like the food at Nine Dragons, though it honestly isn't anything I couldn't get at home, its kind of like my go-to option if we don't have reservations because we can usually get in there.

I would agree with other folks that walk-ups are difficult, BUT, that being said - if you are entering the park in the morning at opening, I would highly suggest going to the Guest Services desk and inquiring about table service reservations that are available. They can check everything that is open. We have actually had success getting Biergarten in mid-Summer that way. Also, watched people get Rose and Crown the same way. If you are willing to go with the flow, possibly eat at non-regular times, and have a little luck you could have a great day!

I've been able to walk up to Tokyo Dining on every trip that I've tried - mostly in early May. We have gone there for lunch & dinner. I haven't been able to get walk-ups anywhere else I've tried.

As far as the original question, I would change Akershus to something else. I've been there for lunch, not dinner, but we're not fans of it. I agree that it's very cramped in there, and I was only there with one other person. We didn't like the food much either, but the Princesses were nice.

I've never been to Coral Reef, so I can't give my opinion on that. Our favorite places are Garden Grill, Teppan Edo, Tokyo Dining, Le Cellier & Tutto Italia.

If there's something you want and can't get, keep calling & trying. People call & cancel all the time.

Absolutely - and not in EPCOT :). Really, get on the boat - you are going to be much happier :).

Whoops! I meant to say Tutto was a good meal. My bad.
But speaking of Il Mulino, I'll be dining there for the very first time this December based on my parents' GLOWING review.
