We've been to Disney many many times with our son, who is now 3 1/2. He likes going to the character dinings so we've called PS and got into two...Chef Mickeys the morning after we arrive (to start our vacation Disney style of course) and then we set up a meal at the Park Fare at GF to eat with Pooh & Friends. Our son really wants to eat at the Castle but he's not into the Princesses. If I'm correct, they serve lunch and dinner as well but without characters? Has anyone eaten in the Castle and would you recommend definitely eating there? Maybe someone could also answer this...I just heard a rumor that Peter Pan is at the Princess breakfasts in the Castle! Is that true? Quite the ladies' man if it is!
Any other dinings that are totally awesome that we should check out with a 3 1/2 year old? I know they no longer have the Villans dining.
I have ONLY eaten lunch in the castle. No charactors. The menu, in my opinion, does not offer much variety (only 5 or six selections on the adult menu). I can't remember what kind of selection is available on the yungin's menu. I have every intention of eating there again, just for the atmosphere. It's really great if you can get a window table overlooking fantasyland. And sorry, I can neither confirm nor deny the Peter Pan rumor.
the castle is very nice to eat in, and there are no princesses but Cindy roming about. and I recommend eating there during the fireworks (if he can stay up that late, or if he doesn't like fireworks.) it really is neat, they dim the lights and you can watch from the big windows!
and my little cousin had that exact SAME outfit for holloween afew years ago! he is so adorable!!!
i meant to post last night, but didn't get the chance....anyway, i ate at the castle a few years ago for dinner (no characters). i really liked it. the atmosphere was really nice (but somewhat formal) from what i can remember the food was pretty good! i ate off the kid's menu cuz i'm not at all a big eater. the desserts are AWESOME though! it would be worth it just to eat there for dessert only!
but personally, my all time fave sit-down restaurant is Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater! it's so great! the first time i ate there, i wasn't too sure about it, because i thought they made you watch old black and white sci-fi films all the way through. but i found out that they just preview them, and they have lots more 'shorts', and even some older cartoons dealing with alien robots! i'm not sure how much a 3 1/2 year old would like it, but i highly recommend it...even for those who aren't big sci-fi fans! nothing beats sitting at a table that looks like a convertable and watching a big screen! and the kid's menus are really fun because they bring out a glow-in-the-dark frizbee (sp?) and a cupcake (complimentary, of course) but it's been a while since i've been there, so they may have stopped doing that. but their milkshakes are out of this world! (no pun intended) :animwink:
Hi,
Peter Pan was there before, but I can confirm for a fact that he no longer appears there, as we just ate there a few weeks ago. I asked several CM specifically, since Peter is my son's favorite
As for eating there at lunch or dinner, I say go for it!! The atmosphere is awesome! Another great place for a 3 year old to eat in is the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. They play games with the kids and run around do tell jokes and stuff. Lots of fun!!!!!
It's kind of pricey and the foods not great but it's worth it for the atmosphere. I suggest getting lunch, but eating a turkey leg before and just getting like salads or something. Thats what my dad and I do, cause it is worth it for the view.
Definitely do Whispering Canyon Cafe, the kids love being able to act out and not get in trouble during dinner. Also, I agree with the Sci-Fi, my 3 1/2 year old loved the idea of the cars, movies, and CMs. My oldest even got a drivers license and parking ticket while we were there, and that was probably our quietest meal during our trip.
Thanks for the posts in relation to Dining Experiences. Our 3 1/2 year old has been to Disney, well, this will be his 6th trip there. Lucky kid I guess! =) We'll definitely do lunch at the castle then and check out that Whispering Cafe. That sounds like it will be a lot of fun for him. Also, we've eaten at the SciFi restaurant and although it was pretty cool eating in the car and all, he wasn't much into the whole movie thing. In fact, the CM put us in the back of a car with a mom and an obnoxious teenager in the front section of the car. Maybe that was the problem but Nicky didn't really care for that place much. Also might try the Toy Story Pizza Place at MGM...he's a HUGE Buzz fanatic. Peter Pan would have been cool to have eaten with but I guess there's always next year. Maybe Disney will set up some new character dining experiences with other favorites! I would love eating with Thumper or even Lady & the Tramp (although I can't see too many younger kids knowing them as well as Mickey, Pooh or Buzz! LOL

Thanks again!
27 more days....Disney, take me away!
Wish I could live in Cinderella's Castle!
Pizza Planet is a fast food place, so no PS is necessary. My four year old Buzz freak loved it, though. The pizza was only okay, but then again I am from NYC where you can get REAL pizza, LOL!!!!
Alladin was at the breakfast the last time we were there. The CMs told us that there isusually one male character, but who it is varies.
We did eat lunch at the castle pre kids. If your soen wants to eat there I'd say do it. The atmosphere is great even if the food is not as good as some of the other choices available.
