Dining Cost?

Does anyone know what the cost of the Disney Diney Plan is supposed to be? By my calculations, for 7 nights, the cost is $311 per person. Which comes to just under $45.00 per day. This seems a bit high for those who don't snack, daily eat appetizers & eat dessert.
Also, is it possible to get the DDP for less than the nights that you are staying on property. Day 1 & Day 7 are really travel days & we won't have time to sit & eat.

To speak on food sharing, we haven't done the dining plan, but at Alfredo's in Italy, we ALWAYS share, as the portions are just huge. It's like eating at Victoria's, but way better food. And they're never angry - there might be a $3 sharing charge though, but since we barely finish the food we've got, that's pefectly fine with us:)

I rarely post - but I can add something here.

On the official Disney World website, you can see a list of the restaurants on the plan for 2007. Click on the "Tickets & Reservations" button underneath the search bar at the top of the screen. Click "2007 Packages" on the left, then scroll down to the Magic Your Way Package plus Dining -> click the selected restaurants unlined part in the package section and you'll see a list of restaurants pop up in a new window. All of those Epcot eateries are not listed on Disney's list plus all the other changes allearsnet listed - I wish it was just speculation! :(

Well, now we FOR SURE wouldn't get the dining plan - if we would've, it would've primarily have been for Epcot. That really stinks...wonder why they took off some of the restaurants?

I would like to see them have several different dining plan options--something like a primarily counter service option with just a couple of table service days maybe there could be a selections of add-ons for snacks, drinks, breakfasts, etc.
We generally don't do a lot of table service meals (maybe 1-2 a trip), I thought the dining plan would be a good chance for us to try some of the restaurants but it just seems like a whole lot of food. With the way my hubby likes to do Disney (go, go, go, ride, ride, ride) big meals probably wouldn't be a good option, but I would like to still have all or most of our meals pre-paid and not have to worry about them.

I've thought about doing the meal plan for years but never have. In my case, I don't think it would be worth it since I rarely eat breakfast and barely finish my meals anyway. And when I am in the parks, I don't want to have a full stomach right before I go on M:S! Plus I get to choose the places I want to eat without restrictions.

It appears to be true for now. We don't use the dinner plan (way to much food for us) but lets hope that Disney comes to their senses for those that do.

I'm not so certain it's an issue of 'coming to their senses' as much as it is 'cutting their losses'. Who knows, though. We will all have to wait and see.

I just looked at the changes allears.net is speculating, JP, is this TRUE??!!!

Please remain inside your ride vehicle until it comes to a full and complete stop...
Oops, sorry wrong speil.

Please don't worry about what is listed/missing in the current Disney Dining Plan brochure until the begining of January 2007. That list is still pending.

Negotiations are still underway for the 2007 Disney Dining Plan. Only Disney owned and operated restaurants are listed on the current brochure, with all the restaurants run by our operating partners currently missing. Not to worry, as each restaurant signs on to the new year contract, more locations will be added before the package actually goes into effect on Jan 1, 2007.

Due to new packages being proprietary in nature until their official release to the public, most of the minor contracts are not presented to the operating partners until all the major information has been finalized.

Expect to see the official PDF file on www.disneyworld.com change several times between now and January.
