Dining conundrum

We are in a very tricky situation right now. We go to Disney in December this year with our very good friends and their two kids. It was supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime but as of April this year they separated; so as it stands right now we are going away with just the dad and the two kids.

I have just finished booking all our dining for 3 adults and 3 kids. Trouble is it now looks as though the mum may come too, either as friends for the sake of the kids or there is talk of them working it out. So the question is does anyone have experience of turning up with 7 for a reservation made for 6? What sort of response will we get from the restaurant.

Last November, we had ADRs for 8 and needed to make it 11. We were told to show up about 20-30 minutes earlier than our ADR and tell the CM at check-in and they would be able to make it work. It all worked out at each restaurant...Kona Cafe, T-Rex, Crystal Palace, Mama Melrose, and Chef Mickey's.

I'd call Dining Reservations first and see if they can help...if not, show up a bit earlier than previously planned.

If you call now you might be able to add her to your reservation and keep the same time. If not you should still be able to reserve a time close to the one you had. I'm having trouble picturing a table setup that would make adding an 8th person an issue. Tables are set up for even numbers of people usually.

If anything changes just keep the reservation to the larger amount of people.
