Dining at the World

I will be at WDW for 7 days and we will be using the dining plan. After our trip to Cindy's (2 table service meals), we will have 5 table service meals left. I have my usual favorite places to eat, however, I thought we would try some new places on this trip. Keeping in mind we will have our 6 & 7 year old children with us, where are some good places to eat?

My kids are 8 (girl) and 3 (boy). We really enjoyed Liberty Tree Tavern, Chef Mickey's dinner, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Donald's Breakfastosaurous, Nine Dragons (my kids loved the sweet and sour chicken) and the Princess Breakfast in Norway.

When we were planning we used AllEarsNet.com and checked out the menus. http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Have a great trip!

50's prime time at MGM is a must. Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL and Boatwrights at PORS are great especially for breakfast. If you are feeling a little adventurous Boma at AKL is great for either breakfast or Dinner. Boma also has the standard kid fare so there is no worries about the little ones picky appetites. The garden Grill at the land is very good and Le Celer at Canada is beyond excellent. If you like Irish cuisine Ragland road at PI is very good especially for a late dinner so you can hear the band.

I agree, Liberty Tree Tavern, Chef Mickey's and Whispering Canyon is a must if you never tried them!! Good food and fun atmosphere. I also enjoyed the Rose and Crown at Epcot and it is a great location to watch Illuminations. Hope you have a great trip!!

I must put in a plug for Garden Grill.
It is, without a doubt, the BEST character experience on property.

The food is kid-friendly--turkey, beef, catfish, macaroni and cheese

Dessert for kids is decorate your own cupcake--they loved that!

Plus, you can never underestimate the entertainment value of a rotating restaurant.

Another vote for The LTT, Chef Mickey's and the WCC in the WL (especially for breakfast :slurp: ). We always try to have lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco at EPCOT...the food is different you familiar. They do have a small child's menu also.

We also like to try new places whne we visit, just to shake things up.

Kids really do get a kick out of Sci-Fi and 50's @ MGM. I personally enjoy all the meals I've had at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Whispering Canyon, Cape May Cafe (DH fav) & Le Cellier. On our last trip we tried Rose & Crown and 1900 Park Fare for dinner and they were great too

I was considereing Rose & Crown and trying to get a seat on the patio for Illuminations. I was just not sure how good the food was. Some of it sounds a little different, but different can be good.

The food at the Rose & Crown was pretty good. I had the chicken pasty, which was very good and DH had the fish and chips, which he enjoyed. I don't remember what my kids ate, but there were no complaints. We were celebrating my birthday and my daughter's birthday that night and we requested a table on the outside patio for Illuminations when we checked in for our reservation and they said they could not guarentee our request, but we did end up having the best table in the house. It was one of the best nights of our vacation.

As noted above, 50s Prime Time and Sci-Fi are both fun......in the WS, Rose and Crown has really good food.....after our last trip, we are now avoiding Chefs de France (it was our favorite in the WS, but the changes in the menu from 2005 to 2006 were not good).....when at the R&C, make sure someone gets the Cheese Board....it has some good cheeses on it....I'm sure they change, but our board had a GREAT stilton.....in fact, we ordered 2!!!!

Our new favorite 1 dinner charge is Le Cellier.....It really doesn't have that "kid" appeal, but the food and service are fantastic....

We also REALLY liked Cali Grill....they served us the BEST meal we've had at Disney....

hope this helps....

We just got back with 5 kids. Their favorites (and ours too) were Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Ohana's, 1900 Park Fair (my 10yr old nephew asked for the recipe for the Cold Strawberry Soup) & Liberty Tree. Everyone also liked Tony's for dinner as well.
We were really disappointed in the changes to Norway and probably won't go back. The princesses were top notch, but the food and service wasn't. If you are already doing the Castle I'd skip Norway in favor of something else.

50's prime time at MGM is a must.

Apparently, 50's Prime Time is a must because when we were there in December, Gary Sinease (sp?) was sat beside our table where he dined with his family.

Here is my 2cents on the topic.

50's prime time: I personally thought the food was so/so, but the environment was so much fun. I loved it, and we will go back.

Sci-Fi (or whatever it is called, having an air bubble in my brain at the moment): Decent food, but they play sci-fi films that could be a little scary for kids. My husband and I just distracted our kids, so they really didn't pay any attention to the "movie" screen.

Hollywood & Vine: Still one of our top picks

Cinderella's Castle breakfast: loved it.

The Grand Floridian Cafe: Another Favorite

The Liberty Tavern: Good Food, Great Character Experience, time it right so you can sit out front and watch the fireworks or the spectro magic parade, then go in for your dinner after.

The German Biergarten: I really enjoy this place every time we eat there.

There is my 2 cents. Have fun. Be sure to check out the menus and reviews.

These are the ADRs we have for our next trip: (my boys are now 10 and 7)

Chef Mickey's....kids really wanted to try it and somhow we had never made it there before. Have heard great things. Having the monorail overhead will be too cool for them.

Liberty Tree Tavern....my kids really wanted to go here again. Ate here April '06 and had great food and character interaction. Atmosphere is fun..

Crystal Palace Breakfast...ate here April '05 and kids wanted another repeat. Great way to start a day at MK.

Whispering canyon Cafe....another big hit with my kids last year. You can order the all-you-can-eat skillet or order off menu. Kids had a blast and still talk about it. "Remember when I got that really big straw" "Wasn't it funny when she gave Daddy a FastPass for the bathroom (after giving him a gallon of soda!".

My DH and I also have a lunch ressie for LeCellier....just us. We figure Grandpa and Grandma can take them for chicken fingers somewhere....:p

LeCellier and Rose and Crown are wonderful places to eat but more "adult".

Our younger DS is extremely picky......he also liked O'Hana's because they made a double decker grilled cheese and FF just for him. The rest of us loved the regular "feast" they serve. We also enjoyed the Garden Grill last year.

Our kids were not thrilled with 50's Prime Time, but we may have all been very tired. The food was excellent, though. They just didn't get into the themeing.

Have a great trip!
