Dining and Buffet questions

I go to Disney World several times a year. I have always loved the food part. My family and I are bringing my mother along on our next trip.

She has had a weight loss surgery. I know this topic has been discussed on here before, but I can't locate the the thread.

Obviously, she can't eat anything in large portions, this won't be a problem at quick service and non buffet restaurants, as her and I will split. My question is... Buffets. She says she would rather grab a small quick service or snack than pay for a full buffet. Can she still sit with us at, say Chef Mickey's without purchasing a buffet??

If I remember correctly, there is no discount or child portion for those carrying a weight loss surgery card. Or is there?

Thanks.
