Correction: Whoopi Goldberg was the voice of Shenzi in "Legend of the Lion King". In fact, all of the original voice talents from the film voiced their characters in that show.
She must have re-recorded it for the attraction then because it was not the same voice track from the movie. The voice in Legend had more of a growl to it and, to me, sounded nothing like the character from the movie. Believe me I know, when the movie came out on video I worked in a Suncoast and we played it every day over and over and over again for 2 solid weeks. Even now almost 10 years later I can still quote the entire film line by line without even looking at it :) There were also sound effects added to the Circle of Life sequence at the beginning of Legend so they did tweak the audio a little for the attraction.

Also, there is a new recording on Big Thunder. Probably changed when it was renovated in 2003. I think it's the same person speaking, but what he says has slightly changed. Every time I hear him say "..wildest ride in the WILDERNESS!" with the emphasis on the word wilderness I just cringe. I miss the old spiel.

That spiel makes me cringe every time I hear it. :hurl:

I'm just condeming all the appauling animation in the majority of the straight to video cheapquels - it can't be denied that it is a travisty.

I'd be willing to give the flick a try, I'm just not going to spend the same amount of cash on a cheapquel as a proper film. I'll probably catch up with it in a few years on TV.

Glad you enjoyed it and I'm sure Robin Williams vocal performance is great, but having just watched the original on DVD the chasam between the rich animation of the original and the limited animation of the latest is huge.
Indeed!! Part 2 and 3 of aladdin looked like the cartoon series they're giving on toon disney. Cheapquels is a good name for that. lol

Lion King 2's animation looks just as good as the first one. Reurn to Neverland was so good they decided to forgo the direct to DVD and put it in theaters. They're pretty much half and half. Some of them are good and some are just god awful(Little Mermaid 2, Cinderelaa 2)
GAH!!! @ cindy 2!!! x_X that was *shudders* The only story I liked from the 3 I think was indeed the last one. The one where the stepsister is forbidden to go out with that chubby blonde guy. Goes to show, that not all people are shallow. <3 that was a lovely story. *awwwwwwwww* *Wants to see it now*

Come to think of it, I really don't like any of the 2nd parts of any disney movie. Sleeping beauty 2? I hope not.

Hmm... wait a sec, I did like toy story 2. Hmm... oh well.
