Different voices in WDW attractions?

Hey guys,

after visiting the new "Tiki room" show at MK it occured to me that the voice of Zazu (Rowan Atkinson) is quite clearly a different actor.

so...

what other characters from Disney movies have had the actor replaced and if a reason known what was it?

The voice of Zazu in the new Tiki Room show is Michael Gough.

Dan Castellanetta (better known as the voice of Homer Simpson) provides the voice of the Genie whenever Robin Williams isn't available.

The voice of Shenzi (Whoppi Goldberg) in the Legend of the Lion King show (RIP  ) was replaced. I have no idea who the new voice was though. Sounded weird every time I went because the other voices in that segment were the originals.

Also, there is a new recording on Big Thunder. Probably changed when it was renovated in 2003. I think it's the same person speaking, but what he says has slightly changed. Every time I hear him say "..wildest ride in the WILDERNESS!" with the emphasis on the word wilderness I just cringe. I miss the old spiel.

Correction: Whoopi Goldberg was the voice of Shenzi in "Legend of the Lion King". In fact, all of the original voice talents from the film voiced their characters in that show.

I knew it was not Rowan Atkinson, but I'm surprised to hear it's Michael Gough.

I noticed that Atkinson never appeared to do any publicity for the original Lion King film, or voice anything since. Did he have a falling out with Disney or something?

Who is Rowan Atkinson? I have heard of him but I don't know where.
Eddie Murphy is not the voice of Mushu anymore and won't be in Mulan 2.

As in Michael Gough, "Alfred" in the Batman films?

That's why I surprised to read it was him! He is a great actor and it's not beyond the bounds of reason that he could do the voice, but he's not the first choice that springs to mind for the role.

Isn't he (Michael Gough) dead now?

Very interesting to hear Dan Castenellta SP? is the Genie when it's not Robin Williams.

Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean/Johnny English) isn't even Zazu on the DVD menu for the Lion King either.. hmmmm

It's funny that Robin Williams wouldn't do Genie sometimes and others he will and is Time Kepper!

Just did a Google - it's a different Michael Gough (I thought Equity did not allow that)

As for Robin Williams, he had a bust up with Disney after Aladin, and it was not until many years later that they kissed and made up - hence his reaparance for the lateset direct to video travisty (I've not seen it, but the animation in the trailer was dreadful)

People on this board love to condemn things before they actually see them. Aladdin and the King of Theives boasts much better animation than Return of Jafar(which isn't saying much). However, Robin Williams is hilarious, the musical score is very nice, and the movie is pretty enjoyable

I'm just condeming all the appauling animation in the majority of the straight to video cheapquels - it can't be denied that it is a travisty.

I'd be willing to give the flick a try, I'm just not going to spend the same amount of cash on a cheapquel as a proper film. I'll probably catch up with it in a few years on TV.

Glad you enjoyed it and I'm sure Robin Williams vocal performance is great, but having just watched the original on DVD the chasam between the rich animation of the original and the limited animation of the latest is huge.

Lion King 2's animation looks just as good as the first one. Reurn to Neverland was so good they decided to forgo the direct to DVD and put it in theaters. They're pretty much half and half. Some of them are good and some are just god awful(Little Mermaid 2, Cinderelaa 2)

Wow...I really had no idea that Rowan Atkinson did the voice of Zazu. This whole time, I had no clue. That's really impressive then. I have no idea who I thought did it though. Good job Rowan! lol!

Lion King 3 / 1.5 (Depending on your country) was a good all around film - well done to the Antipodeans:D Lion King 2 looked OK, but lacked something as a film. Return to Neverland was not bad. Not brilliant, but not bad.
Pochahontas II and Tarzan and Jane - Dreadful.
