Differences Between Disneyland and Walt Disney World

Oh my gosh, that's sad. I wonder how it died? Poor thing.

I've seen a mountain lion, too, while hiking in CA. I was frozen for about five seconds (this one was full grown and it was staring at me) but I snapped out of it and ran. I would have been just as scared if it had been a cub.

It looked to have been struck by a vehicle. Seeing a full grown mountain lion had to be intense. Even running away you had to be looking over your shoulder.

They can be....and they smell bad.

God awful smell. Especially if theres a little herd of them. I rank them #3 in the worse smelling animals Ive encountered in the wild. #2 a black bear and #1 hands down would have to be coyotes. I hate those things.

It's sad when animals get hit by cars. I feel so bad when that happens! I witnessed a rat run out into the street and get hit, once. I don't like rats but I felt bad.

I was too scared to look back, honestly. Guess my nerves really got to me. I saw a rattle snake on another hiking trip I was on. I just turned around and walked back.

Speaking of snakes, are water moccasins poisonous? I heard they're in Florida as well.

Yes. Over the years we've seen a few around the Epcot resort areas. Kind of like Gators in Florida. Where there's water there are moccasins. You never hear of anyone getting bit though. Not often anyway. You hear more about rattle snakes than anything else

I've sadly never been to Disneyland, but from what I can tell the park seems a lot more intimate and detailed compared to the Magic Kingdom.

Speaking of Main Street I love bricked pavement and the amount of trees, since it just looks a lot more homely and lived in.

Hopefully the Magic Kingdom will gain some of the subtle touches the Anaheim park has, but I sadly doubt it.

You just summed it up.

And the Magic Kingdom Park in WDW has had 40+ years to gain some of the subtle touches that Disneyland has, but they don't seem in any hurry to add those subtle touches there.

The big difference is that Disneyland is truly a magic kingdom designed and built by one talented man named Walt and his hand-selected team of Imagineers in the 1950's and 60's.

Whereas the Magic Kingdom Park in WDW was built five years after Walt's death and designed by executive committee who deemed wider walkways and more urinals in the restrooms of greater importance than all the little cosmetic plusses and charming additions that Walt insisted on in previous decades. It hasn't helped that in the 21st century the TDO leadership seems to be managing from a distance via PowerPoint, while the TDA leadership seems to be managing by a "What would Walt want?" hands-on approach.

The result are two parks that share a common bond and a common layout, but that are quite noticeably different in their execution.

@raven24 Just for you I saw Fantasmic! while I was at DLP.;) I don't think it's necessarily better than WDW's. My parents are split on a dragon. My dad thinks the one at WDW is better whereas my mom says ours looks like a giant stick in comparison. I loved the Pink Elephants on Parade part. The amphitheater has definite advantages as far as making you feel like you're in the show. I'm not at all distracted at WDW while in DLP I kept thinking about how much my feet hurt. Also, the strobe lights were almost dangerous to walk during (passed by on the last night there). It was good. Not necessarily better or worse than WDW's except viewing wise, but good.

Sorry, Magical is not as good as Wishes. Wishes tells a story. Magical does not. But it was good. Though the first time I watched it Tink came out and Dumbo didn't, so I was mad. I saw him from New Orleans Square, but both times I watched it on Main Street he didn't fly. The second time I think it was too breezy for him or Tink. It was a good show though. I still prefer Wishes.

I'm glad you saw Fantasmic!. The magic of having the show on the Rivers of America is it comes out of nowhere, unlike the dedicated amphitheater. WDW's dragon does look like its on a stick, but it's not bad at all. Pocahontas has nothing on Pan the man and I'd take the Mark Twain over Steamboat Willie.

It's too bad you missed Remember, because that firework show tops every Disney park firework show currently going on right now.

As of right now, I prefer Magical over Wishes, but I can't have a final opinion until I see Wishes with my own eyes. From what I've seen (on YouTube, unfortunately), I like Magical's music better, as well as Tink and the finale. Dumbo is a bonus. Again, my opinion will be final once I see Wishes in person.

I'm glad you got the chance to see both. Guess it wasn't that windy.:D

Dumbo is a bonus.

When he appears. I was so mad the first time when he didn't appear. the second time when Tink wasn't around I was expecting it. My mom said, "He didn't believe enough."

Wishes has the power to make me cry. Magical...er...not so much. Because of the extra space, there are also fireworks EVERYWHERE. Magical was more spread out than the last show I saw, but still. It is nice that Tink and Dumbo can go up and down on the wire. On ours she has to go straight. I'd foresee an accident based on the angle on ours if she went up and down. I would love to see Remember, but that time of year doesn't work out for me to go with the time difference. I have to go straight back to school after my January trip to WDW, and I'm not going to Cali without my parents, though I'll go to WDW since it's simpler for me to get there from the airport with my friend.

When you go to WDW, see if you can watch Wishes twice, the first time from Main Street and the second time from Fantasyland near Pooh. It's an...interesting experience. But completely awesome.

Check the dates on those Youtube videos. Although the music hasn't changed, the fireworks occasionally get an upgrade.

I would say between the carousel and the former Dumbo spot for your second viewing, but to each their own. The fireworks really surround you during the finale in the middle of Fantasyland; is it the same over by Pooh?
