Did Kodak have a grip on the parks?

I feel that when Kodak left the parks and faded do to new technology the parks have changed and scaled back a bit. Whether the two are related or not it seems like when Kodak was bigger the parks were better.

Disney needs heavy sponsorship again, just to think what the world would have been like if Siemens Spectromagic happened or AT&T were to sign up again with Spaceship Earth and world key was updated to fit in with today's world, Wonders of Life stuck with Met Life I can go on all day with this.

With the AT&T/Time Warner deal going on right now....I don't think it would be wise to have them sponsering anything for Disney...

Sponsors come and go with time and Disney has always thought they would have no trouble replacing them. After all... Theyre Disney. Kodak is only one major player theyve lost and Disney has always relied on many to keep themselves going. In the past at times when sponsors left, Disney was unsure as to what to do and what direction they would go in. Without having a good plan for the future theyve floundered and lost momentum. Years ago, having internal issues going on with management, losing major sponsors only added to their problems. Kodaks leaving was only a small punch in the gut but nothing theyve been really hurt long term by. There are other issues that has contributed to the changing feel and running of the parks. You can say Kodak leaving was a problem but it is only a part of the problem. Theres lots of blame to go around.

But it didn't have too. Yes, it was nice to have another company pay some of the bills, however, they didn't need that to continue. Once they proved themselves, they have been perfectly capable of taking care of any expense that they needed to upgrade and stay creative. The just took forever to get it through their heads that major sponsors were not coming back. The internet became the way to get their word out to everyone, that sponsor were trying to reach, for a lot less cost and a lot less commitment. I think the increase in activity of Disney right now signals the fact that they finally figured out that there will be no more massive influx of money just so a company can get that exposure. They have to do it themselves. Sometimes old habit die hard.

Kodak's ties with WDW go deeper then just being the sponsor of the original Imagination Pavilion and it's Attractions.

For many years, Kodak had a exclusive deal with WDW when it came to supplying film products.
Film...remember that?
You used to have to buy these little celluloid strips rolled up in metal tubes to actually take photographs with...in a thing called a 'camera'.
;)

If you wanted another brand of film like Fuji or the like, forget it.
Only Kodak products were sold in the shops on property.
Ditto for cameras.
Kodak also used to allow 'rentals' of their newest cameras for Guests to use during their day in the Park for a fee in the 1980s.

Older Park visitors probably remember the 'Kodak Picture Spots' that used to be sprinkled around in scenic spots.
Many here I'm sure recall the various advertisements on the back covers of numerous Guide Maps over the years.
I beleive Kodak actually paid for the printings of all of those, as the ones in the 80s often included 'compliments of Kodak' on the front cover.
