Did I make the wrong decision choosing CBR?

We got a pin code about a month ago and were planning on using it for our first stay at a deluxe (BC), but then found out that BC is undergoing major renovations and decided to opt for a mod instead. We were going to go with POR, which we have stayed at two years in a row and adore, but wanted to try something a little different. We realized if we stayed at CBR we would have stayed at all the mods and then would stay deluxe next year. With the pin code our stay at CBR is only about 120/night, so we figured it would be worth the risk. Silly me should have come to this site first instead of relying on travel sites. The other site ratings were positive, but when I looked up the resort on here, I'm hard-pressed to find any that praise it. Is it better over there now that they are renovating? Should I call and ask to switch to POR?

Any idea when the renovations will be done? I've heard different reports. Some areas are done and others aren't. We are staying there in February.
Disney said the renovations will be fully completed by March '15 so you have a great chance of getting a renovated room in Feb.

One Little Spark...
We have never been turned away at Shutters and have never had reservations. Not that it's bad food, I just think it's out if the way for a lot of people if you're not staying there. Good food!
I've never been turned away either. The food is really good. The hours are really odd though. Like, they open at 6 and close at 9 sort of thing (and it seems to vary daily, in my experience).

Too much to keep up with. I wish they kept it open from like 6 to midnight. If they dropped a bar in there with some live entertainment (like PORS and POFQ have) they'd make a killing, I suspect!

I stayed at CBR in the Barbados area this past July and had a great time there. I thought it was a beautiful resort & never felt the walking was that bad at all.

We stayed at CBR last September and loved it. It's a beautiful resort with lovely white sand beaches and hammocks and pretty buildings and lush tropical landscaping. The pool is awesome, especially the kids' section. The food is meh but who cares, just grab some bananas and granola bars and get to the parks. It is just a lovely place and for $120 a night it'd be a mistake NOT to stay there! Relax and enjoy!

I too stayed in Barbados and loved it. Often we were the last picked up or first dropped off depending on which entrance the busses used which was great. Also, if you are taking the Magical Express, Barbados is across the street from the check in building. You can easily walk to your room instead of having to take a bus and have your bags delivered later.

You know what's funny?
Like others have said, try to get a room in Jamaica. Close to the bridge and the rooms are renovated. Just stayed there in September and loved it.

We've stayed at CBR twice and loved it - the beach setting with hammocks, the steel drum music, the food court. Like other above, I recommend you stay in Aruba or Jamaica "near the foot bridge" and request one of the rooms with the new queen size beds.
